This is the era of the NBA super teams. Dame and CJ don't want to stand pat. They want to win now and you also have to keep your franchise players happy.
So what you going to do if Melo don't want come. Of course Dame and CJ wants another star on the team but right now that don't look like it going to happen. I not saying not to try upgrade the roster if you can but right now you got what you got.

If we strike out on Carmelo you make a play for Love.

im just not getting my hopes up at all. as a blazer fan, ive learned that good things dont usually happen..... ever.....

hell, i bet meyers will retire here.....

Yes, that's what we need, Carmello or Love? Sorry but I would rather stand pat. Definitely on Love but also on Melo. If he doesn't want to come here it makes it easier on us, the guy has done nothing in what, 15 years in the NBA? Made most of his teams worse. Won the NCAA as a freshman but he's going nowhere with the Knicks and would rather stay there, let him stay there. We already have the 4th piece of a contending starting 5 in Caleb and we got him with a low 1st rounder, Crabbe and Turner if they only play the 3 are better than Melo and don't have nearly the ego or baggage. Stay with what we have, build from within, with someone who grew up homeless, not some prima-donna who needs us to convince him to come. Love I understand is a hometown boy but Love has been pathetic in Cleveland almost as much as Carmellobeen with the Knicks. If a change of scenery would do him (them) good? Maybe. But we're not in it for another team's problems. I would trade for Melo if they're taking away our problems and only for that reason. I wouldn't trade for Love because he would take away minutes from Caleb. We're building our team, we have our own way, we're not about recruiting anyone

I'm hoping Porzingas has some Bosnian/Slavic European friends urging him to join us with Nurk in Portland....and demand a trade only to Portland...what a front court that would be..sell the youth and depth....he wants out of New York worse than Melo does.

So that presents an interesting dilemma. Do you encourage your star player to participate in the Olympic team in the hopes that he persuades other stars to come here, or do you fear that he will go and make bonds that tear him away from your team?

Dame and CJ not only are hoping to get Melo, but are actively by every means possible trying to recruit him, I would guess with the full backing of NO and Paul Allen. So whether we as a group want him or not, the Knick's will be given our best offer to bring him here. No way does NO not do everything in his power to land this guy if they believe he will make them better. Missing on PG seems to be on Indiana and not NO.(?) He doesn't want that to happen again and I think he get's his man this time. NO has to show that he can bring someone in.

Agree. I'm still 50/50 on getting Melo, but I trust Dame and CJ's opinion of adding Melo to our team more than any of us fans/message board geeks. If they want him, then it's pushing me to want him also.

Dame wanted Meyers in the draft. Just sayin

Clutchfans, lol.
Out of all the loser fans we have dealt with the past couple years, Portland has been the worst. The most insecure by far. Making accounts here daily to try and convince us that their team is respected and melo would be a good fit there. Like why? Who cares what rockets fans think lol, we don't make the trade happen. We can't waive melo's no trade clause. And Portland fans...you don't have a big 3. Maybe a 1? Or a 1.5 lmao

Tell that to Dame and C.J.

One last bump guys...

Me too. And it's not even close. Love fits better with our offense, he's not a ball stopper, without looking at stats I'm pretty sure he's a better 3 point shooter, he plays marginally better defense (IMO), he's less likely to be a malcontent/more likely to embrace playing in Portland, I think he's less selfish, he's on a longer deal, he's younger, he's a good rebounder.....

Who says no?

Melo waives his no trade clause and gets out of NY.

NYK get Harkless, who they covert, Davis and Vonleh, who are both on cheap, expiring contracts. Vonleh is still very young and they would hold his Bird rights, should they want to re-sign him.

LeBron (er... CLE) get's the player he (er... they) want.

We get the best player in the deal, who is 5 years younger than Melo and a better fit for us. He makes less than Melo and is locked up longer. Best of all, he doesn't have a no trade clause! By clearing out Davis and Vonleh, we alleviate some of the logjam at back up 4/5. We'd be relying on Swanigan, Collins and (cough) Leonard backing up the 4 and 5 spots, with help from Aminu at the 4, although he may end up being our starting 3.

Personally, I'd try to push Leonard off on NYK, with us getting Kyle O'Quinn back, but it's already be widely reported that the Knicks don't want him.

And, of course, HOU gets exactly what they deserve - NOTHING!

Personally, I think Cleveland says no to that. Sure they want Melo, but I don't think they want to give Love up to get him.

The rumors are that LeBron isn't thrilled with Love and would rather have his buddy Melo.

Perhaps there is something else us, or NYK can do to sweeten the deal a little. I don't think they are really interested much in future draft packs at the moment. Maybe a player that they can actually use, or maybe help the offload a little salary. LeBron supposedly like Shabazz. Maybe also give them O'Quinn to give them more depth up front.

It would have to go down as three separate trades, but CLE has a $4.8 million trade exception from Mike Dunleavy they could use to get O'Quinn from the Knicks and a $2.2 million Mo Williams trade exception they could use to get Napier.

If NYK are willing to take back one more expiring contract, this accomplishes the same thing:

Draft picks and cash considerations could also come into play...

Lebron is making it abundantly clear that he wants his options open next summer. No way he recruits Melo to CLE now given all their drama and front office turmoil. I think Melo is going to realize there are few options for him outside of NY (where they don't really want him either).

All around, that's not a bad deal at all.

Fun question: Would a Dame, CJ, Nurkic, Carmelo, and Wade core be enough to convince Lebron to come to POR?

He'd be able to win another ring, and play with his buddy Carmelo.

Melo also has an ETO. So, why wouldn't LeBron recruit him to CLE - if he really believes Melo gives him a better shot than Love at one more title in CLE? If it doesn't work, they can both flee the sinking ship next summer.
