NBA trade rumors: Knicks keeping Carmelo Anthony over taking Rockets offer?

The standoff at Madison Square Garden continues.

Carmelo Anthony wants to be traded from the Knicks, but reportedly won't consider a deal to any team except the Houston Rockets--including the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Knicks are willing to turn the page and trade away the face of the franchise, but only if a palatable deal comes back. Without Anthony's blessing on a blockbuster with Cleveland, that means no Kyrie Irving in New York.

So what's next?

Anthony in Knicks training camp in September, according to NBA insider Steve Kyler.

The Basketball Insiders writer broke down the latest in the Anthony saga and what the Knicks are thinking about an underwhelming possibility with the Rockets.

With the Knicks front office situation settled, the prevailing thought in NBA circles is that the Knicks are not going to agree to the long-rumored trade with the Houston Rockets. The commentary coming out of New York is that a Houston deal offers nothing of real value to the Knicks and moving Carmelo simply to take on contracts and players they do not want or view as pieces of the future is not appealing or agreeable to Knicks leadership.

The Knicks at this point seem like they will bring Anthony to training camp if he will not expand his list of agreeable trade destinations or unless the return through Houston changes to their favor.

The main issue right now? New York simply doesn't want anything Houston is offering for Anthony.

The problem facing the Rockets is that the Knicks do not want the players they would be willing to move and by involving additional teams they will be diluting the possible return to the Knicks, as each new team takes something of value out of a package for themselves.

This is another tactic to get him to open up his NTC.

Just to pad my post count some more I hope he gets stuck in NY over going to Houston. He's too old to be acting like such a spoiled brat.

Same. Being stuck in New York would make Anthony unhappy (win), Houston fans VERY unhappy (huge win) and really doesn't impact us much.

I don't see a downside.

Don't want him anymore. No thanks on being someone's last resort. If he didn't want to come when the opportunity presented itself, then he shouldn't come period. Let his bitch ass rot in New York.

I mean, he doesn't want to live 3000 miles away from his son and would rather be closer in Houston. He's probably taking time to see if HOU is possible and to make a decision based on his son.

I don't see how that makes him a bad guy.

Could we change the title of this thread to "Covfefe trade rumor"

Who said he was a bad guy?

Btw you're the last person that should be defending Carmelo.

You didn't say he was, but you're talking shit about him for not jumping off of the Houston train yet... Why should I be the last person defending him?

Asking people to think clearly before posting isn't "defending Carmelo".

From a guy that loves telling people "I wasn't talking to you"....

I wasn't talking to you.

Because you don't even think he belongs in the NBA *edited: That's a weird word for "friend-o"*.

And furthermore, when on a public forum, you should expect everyone reading it to respond to your post.

Oh, the irony of you pointing this out.

"Stop stalking my posts"

See how dumb that is? Wait a minute.. No.. You don't....

It's one thing to respond to most of my posts in a day in numerous threads (something you've done to me).

It's a complete other thing to be in the same thread as someone and simply respond. Get your mind right...

It's funny that I'm using your own (flawed) logic against you while you simultaneously point out to me how flawed it is. Good times.

So you're insinuating I actually hunted down your posts so I could reply to them, rather than I don't know, seeing it and simply responding? You think you're that important?

No. I'm not insinuating anything. I'm just saying there have been multiple times when you've responded negatively to me in multiple threads.

So, yes I said "stalking" my posts but didn't really mean it like that. Bottom line is, you respond pretty negatively to me a lot of the time.
