Ingredients:
1.) Lose the turnover battle. Don't extend the defense at all and make sure that you don't play the passing lanes.
2.) Give up open mid-range shots. Make sure not to get to close to the shot to actually contest it. Even if the shooter doesn't have 3-point range, fight over the screen anyways.
3.) Get outrebounded on the boards. Don't box out. Guards, don't help out your big man rebound or leak out in transition. Just stand at the 3-point line hoping the big grabs the rebound then jog to the opposite 3-point line in transition, hoping for a quick 3.
4.) Don't run harder than the other team. The offense needs to flow, and that means the offense must be set up in the half-court. If there's a chance to run, don't. Also, don't sprint back on D, and don't pick up the ball unless you're the PG. If Lillard isn't back and the PG is pushing, let him score the lay-in as it isn't your guy.
5.) Don't shoot lay-ins because they're not worth 3 points.

My biggest question(s) are what happened to our rebounding and 2nd chance points? Those two aspects of the game were our bread and butter last year, esp down the stretch and now it's a legit weakness.

Dame attacked the hole all game. We got back into the game by attacking the hole.
Other than CJ and Dame, who attacks the hole and scores consistently? None of our big men finish well either. Plumlee shoots layups like a 6'0 guard, Meyers would rather shoot jumpers, and Aminu can't dribble, finish, or shoot 3s.

It's the same problems as last year. Stotts hasn't adjusted his coaching style. Yes, half the time he has great inbounds plays but half the time they suck ass too. Our defense is somehow even worse than it was last year, and we still LOVE giving up open 15 foot jumpers to good mid-range shooters.

I've always thought he was a bit overrated. COTY? I don't think so.

There's not a lot of justification that I can see for putting a 6'3" PG on a 6'10'+ PF. His rotations, lack of time outs, and lack of changing plays just drive me up a fucking wall.

Meyers had a clutch layup and a clutch dunk late in the game. What are you even talking about?

We're not aggressive on either side of the ball. We don't run in transition. We settle for 3s even when they're not falling. Our bigs don't try to dunk and shoot weird ass layins that hardly ever go in. We never extend and play the passing lanes or pressure the ball. We purposely give up open mid-range shots. We don't crash the boards hard or try and leak out. It's weak.

If Bledsoe misses the shot, do you still make this thread?

This team regressed for real this season. Funny thing is we saw it in the preaseason but understandingly so didn't take much stock in it.

Other than Dame I haven't been impressed at all so far. Disappointing

Two blown defensive assignments. What the fuck are you even talking about?? One bad team blowing two defensive assignments doesn't mean we consistently attack the rim at all.

This.
He drew up plays vs Denver and tonight vs Phoenix to get us to OT. Stotts is doing a great job. Unfortunately, Bledsoe made a shot he rarely ever makes.

Probably not because I'm not pissed off if he misses. That doesn't mean that these AREN'T PROBLEMS. Even if we escaped, we would've needed OT to beat Denver and Pheonix (lottery teams) and barely beat a short-handed Utah team in our home-opener. So there's obviously problems and to deny that is ludicrous.

Ed Davis, aka our best offensive rebounder looks out of shape

Two good plays where two bad defenses blew coverages does not mean he's doing a good job. Holy shit, selective reasoning much?

We look good at the beginning of games. And we've been decent at the end of games too.
A good coach gets his team to play CONSISTENTLY. We were inconsistent over 82 games and two playoff series last year. And guess what? It's gotten worse.

Calm down. We're starting games well. Dame is playing at an MVP level. We still don't have Ezeli. Layman will play a significant role on this team this season. Tonight was a great game (and breakthrough games for Turner and Leonard) for us until Bledsoe hit a shot. You could easily write a whole thread about all the good things Stotts does. He's our best coach since Adelman. Calm down.

Terry isnt the problem. Its the personnel. we probably have the worst starting front court in the nba.

On both ends of the floor.

Give it til January. if we're still middling then raise some concern.

Am I the only one who is seeing this? He looks slower and that spring he had in his feet is gone. A ground bound Ed is a negative player.
Yes, Davis has been awful and we're hurting because of it.

I see I'm not the only one who noticed this.

This is just a mediocre team. We'll win around 41 games. We were mediocre last year, but ended the season with a good flavor in our mouths. But the team hasn't improved from last year. I think a poster here made an interesting observation, when they said it looks like this year's team plays like they think they're better than they are. You don't see the same flair.

So Dame's playing at an MVP level, Turner and Leonard have breakout games, and we still almost lose to Denver, lose to Golden State by 20+ at home, and lose to the winless Pheonix Suns... Offense isn't much of a problem (I'd still change a few things but it's not what worries me). It's the defense, which is horrendous, and the little things like rebounding, knowing when to run, shot selection, consistency, mid-game adjustments when our offense stalls, appropriate double teams, etc.

You guys ready for the mavs when Wes drops 40 on us and our small ass guards get switched onto dirk for his signature fadeaways?...you know it's coming
Hell, I didn't even bring up how bad and lazy some of our switches are. It's like guards get to lazy to fight through screens so we switch and get killed for it.

I'm ready for wide open 15 footers by good mid-range shooters, and Andrew Bogut killing us on the boards.
