Sure. I'm happy for him and all but why? What does he bring that will make this team better in the next 3 years?
If he is still on the team they are tanking still.
I don’t see it.
Happy for him. He worked his whole life to get this but he will not be playing rotational minutes on a contender from what I see. NBA is full of guys better than him.
That was pretty much my point. I'm happy for him. He has worked very hard to get to where he is.
The Blazers don't have any A+ stars anywhere on this roster.definitely didnt come across that way, sounds like your shitting on him for not being some A+ star or some shit.
…. And? What you said, Doesn’t really respond to what I’m saying. The Blazers don't have any A+ stars anywhere on this roster.
He's a 13-15 bench player on a bad team playing because of injuries. Why would anyone think he was an A+ star player?…. And? What you said, Doesn’t really respond to what I’m saying.
He's also 27, and I can't imagine he's going to take a leap at this stage in his career. If he were, say, 21 years old then I could be excited about this new contract, but as it is... **shrug**He's a 13-15 bench player on a bad team playing because of injuries. Glad he got his contract. He's obviously earned that but he will only be a practice guy playing spot minutes on this team going forward unless they decide to tank again next year. Which as much as I would hate that It might be exactly what they do and if that happens he might play the same role next season as well.
Good luck to him.
Yeah not trashing the guy at all. He worked a long time and probably very hard to get that contract. You pretty much summed it up. ***shrug***He's also 27, and I can't imagine he's going to take a leap at this stage in his career. I don't think building a roster based on the fact that one dude, one time, did something is a good strategy.Yeah, that's what I said about Joe Ingles his rookie year......at 27.
He got better and turned out to be a very good contributor for the Jazz.

I most certainly don’t consider that an A+ signing. There is a difference between an A+ player and an A+ signing.
No one said he is a star.

Yeah I don't either. They had the spot available and he does play a position of need with Time Lord out and Ayton dealing with his injury issues.I just don't see any negatives to the signing.

I agree that, if I had said that about Ingles (as you admit to), we would have been wrong. But that doesn't mean our thinking was wrong.
I misinterpreted what you said, initially, thinking you said I said that about Dame, rather than about other prospects being older. You made the same basic argument with Lillard ... too old to have much upside ... the occasional counter-example doesn't hold much promise in his case. Being wrong is one thing, but being too stubborn to learn from it is another.

Dame was 22 and a lottery pick. Him succeeding is much more likely than a 27 year-old guy who has never played in the NBA before. Comparing the two is silly, and saying I'm "stubborn" for having an opinion that Reath probably won't get much better is even moreso.
