Our Israeli-influenced government didn’t want people seeing their ethnic cleansing campaign in real time, so they decided to illegally shut them down as punishment. Too little too late though. Millions of young people are on the platform and saw the atrocities in horrifying detail. It’s a big part of why the Biden/Kamala festering neoliberal abscess was removed via the election.

They are, among other things. They don’t want the world to see Israel indiscriminately murdering children and whoever else while we pay for it. And they don’t want people to see the details of whatever murder campaign we go on next. Nobody actually gives a fuck about China, they are just a scapegoat for everything. They can hardly construct a fidget spinner without a stolen set of blueprints, they aren’t a threat.

This seems to assume that TikTok is the only place to see information about Gaza, and that (lawmakers think that) information can't appear anywhere else.

Seems rather silly to me.

Gaza is important, but there are many other issues, many other concerns in the world than whether teenagers find out about what's happening in Gaza.

China is one of those concerns, justified or otherwise.

Trying to stop young people from seeing the war in the middle east may very well have been reason to expedite the banning of tik Tok. I'm not arguing against that.

China is very much a threat. The idea to shut down tik Tok started because China had unfettered access to Americans information. Without a way to safeguard Americans Information, the Senate/Congress looked to get tik Tok to change the way they stored information so it didn't go to China, and then to sell it once that was refused. Having refused to do this, there was nothing to do but ban it.

There are many other platforms for which to view the carnage in the middle east. There is no stopping anyone from seeing it in this day and age.

When Tik Tok goes, it will be replaced with something else. There will always be platforms to see these things on.
