Fair point, and I can be worried about both. The unfortunate truth is Zionism has a much more powerful lobby and also gets a pass from the mainstream while at least Nazism is looked down enough on to only reach fringe status.
The Nazis don't need a lobby. They have the intellectual underpinnings to the movement. People like Yarvin and Thiel have more influence than any lobby.
Elon Musk doesn't need a lobby. He's the one being lobbied. He is the one that can throw Nazi salutes and NBC will edit them out of the replay. There is SO much money riding on the idea that Elon is a genius with good intentions. Him being a Nazi grifter is extremely bad for business.... for now.
The truth is Nazism isn’t some widespread ideology. That’s mostly a liberal scare tactic.
- Liberals are people who haven't thought about what the words "Nazi" or "Fascism" actually refer to since they learned the sanitized version in middle school. They want to look cool to leftists so they call anything bad "Nazi".
- Leftists have read at least one history book and know that Fascism is the end result of conservative politics. Can correctly identify someone saying/doing Fash shit.
- Conservatives are people who haven't thought about what the words "Nazi" or "Fascism" actually refer to since they learned the sanitized version in middle school. They are (mostly) unaware that their own politics are extremely similar.
- Far right / MAGA people have read at least one history book and know that Fascism is the end result of conservative politics, which to them is good.
Calling everyone you disagree with a Nazi has really cheapened to reality of what those people did.
You don't have to do a holocaust to be a Nazi. You don't have to fly the Swastika flag to be a Nazi.
Out of all the things the Nazis did that was bad, the holocaust is the
only thing that conservatives truly (or at least publicly) take issue with, and that's if they acknowledge it happened at all. Besides, genocide is not unique to the Nazis. It is the last resort of murderous dictators backed by a complicit populace.
I would argue the majority of Nazi political ideology is still around in conservative circles. Racist pseudoscience, social Darwinism, white supremacy, ultra-nationalism, etc. Plus the conspiracy theories of the Them/Jews/Globalists poisoning the west via immigrants and cultural decay. Conservatism as a political project is built from the philosophy of natural hierarchies. You can only enforce inequality in so many ways before realpolitik sets in and you find yourself building camps to hold undesirables in (see the US border, for example). Conservatives today may not identify with Nazism or Fascism, but their politics are cut from the same cloth. Keep going down that road, and you will arrive at atrocity sooner than later.
