Doesn't matter. It should be illegal for any politician to accept money from anybody except the US government.

AIPAC is irrelevant. It should be incapable of influencing anything political in the US.
 
I distinctly remember the Pacific Ocean had a lot of water before Trump.
 
There is an old joke that a prosecutor can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich. (For being not kosher, I guess).

Fox commentator turned US Attorney for DC tried three different times to get three different grand juries to indict a protester for allegedly assaulting ICE agents. Failed three times.

Clearly the person less guilty than the ham sandwich.
 
When Trump took over Kennedy Center for the Arts, he had dance director fired. They just hired a new director. Decent credentials, had a solid career as dancer.

Said his mission is to get "woke" out of ballet. In other words, keep it white, European, and 19th century. I like Swan Lake as much as any other fan but ballet didn't end with Swan Lake.

I think of Dylan in Complete Unknown saying he didn't want to sing Blowing in the Wind forever.

Jennifer Rubin correctly notes no foreign power could threaten American lives and safety as much as Trump administration. From stopping vaccines, dismantling FEMA, firing top military officers, firing CDC experts, ending medical and the scientific research, and shutting down hospitals, cutting off food and health care, halting renewable energy and soaring prices we are all sicker, poorer and less safe.

AIPAC should be irrelevant, yes. But it’s far from it. It’s an extremely powerful lobby and it works in the interests of a foreign nation, to the direct detriment of American citizens.

Then we need to take steps to mitigate that. I'm not sure what steps those are... I'm not sure if it's even possible.

It may well lead to a dystopian future with a lot of suffering.

*Edit* our last hope maybe that dealing with this fascist president wakes people up.

But I don't even think the Democrats have woke up at this point...

Tulsi Gabbard Under Fire for Reportedly Revealing Undercover CIA Agent’s Name on X: ‘Sackable Offense’

Calls rang out on Thursday for President Donald Trump to fire his director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, after a Wall Street Journal report found she posted the name of an undercover CIA agent working on Russia to social media without informing the CIA.

Last week, Gabbard posted a list of 37 names of former and current intelligence officers to X who she stripped of their security clearances and accused of “betraying their oath to the Constitution.” Gabbard has been pushing a widely refuted allegation that former President Barack Obama and officials in his administration were behind a “treasonous conspiracy” to create fake intel leaking Trump’s 2016 campaign to Russia.

“Gabbard didn’t know the CIA officer had been working undercover, according to a person familiar with the fallout from the list’s release. Three other people with knowledge of the situation said that Gabbard’s office didn’t meaningfully consult with the CIA before releasing the list,” reported The Wall Street Journal, later adding:

The national intelligence office didn’t seek the CIA’s input about the composition of the list, and the CIA had no foreknowledge of Gabbard’s posting on X the following day that revealed the names, including that of the covered CIA officer, according to two of the people familiar with the events.

A Gabbard spokesperson told the WSJ, “Director of National Intelligence Gabbard directed the revocations to ensure individuals who have violated the trust placed in them by weaponizing, politicizing, manipulating, or leaking classified intelligence are no longer allowed to do so.”

The outcry over the report was immediate and unsparing. The Economist’s defense editor, Shahank Joshi, wrote in response, “Unbelievable. This would be a resigning or sackable offence in any other administration.”



“Gabbard shouldn’t have been nominated or confirmed. She should have been fired a long time ago. The next best time to fire her would be now,” added The Dispatch’s Jonah Goldberg.

I like the idea. This doesn't seem very likely though...

It would require a constitutional amendment. This would remove power from the less populated states. So they would fight tooth and nail to prevent this.

It would remove power from our representatives. They will also fight tooth and nail to prevent this.

Corporations would lose a huge lever and power. So they will fight it tooth and nail.

It's basically worse for all of the above political forces than overturning Citizens United...
