Both Dems and republicans have failed to fix it.

A very inaccurate statement.
The dems have been in power in Oregon close to 35 years. They were in power in the City of Portland at-least since they built the Max
down to the center of hell.

No, the Greyhound station, which once was the center hub of transportation is closed. One all the bus lines ended up there. no more.

It's not closed, it just moved a few decades back. It's next to the train station.

Really? So was the old one. Well, the bus lines into town do not go there.
Coming in from Scappoose or Hayden Island, I ended up at Salmon St.

No, the old one (up till the 80's) was around where you got off the bus recently, 6th & Salmon (or thereabouts).
There are plenty of city buses that go to the current greyhound station, as does the MAX. You might have to transfer downtown, though.

Good point! Getting worse all the time. Most of these people are younger white people and black people of all ages. Where did they come from?
Why did they let them have this section of the City? Why aren't they working at a job that matches their skill level rather than come there to be derelicts? It might have something to do with most of the State being in a state of dereliction. A place where the ability of people to earn a living has been eliminated. Eliminated before creating places for people to earn a living. But we bring more into the Sanctuary. This could be a long vent, but I will stop here.

There are many older folks who are homeless too. I agree the ability to earn a living has been nearly eliminated with high rent and inflation.

Sorry, the original greyhound station was before my time here. I know of only the one right next to union station.

SW 6th & Salmon is about a mile south on 6th avenue.

SW 6th & Salmon is about 1.25 miles south on 6th avenue.

That's not the old one in your photo. That's the current one (since 1985). The old one was about 1.25 miles south on 6th avenue...

Edit: I looked it up, it's actually only 0.7 miles to 6th & Salmon.

Right! Well I guess memories differ. Well anyway, the buses do not go there anymore. The doors are locked and blocked with horizontal folks.

Here's the old bus station, before they tore it down... it was built in 1939.

Maybe you went to the wrong door? It's definitely still in operation. There's a bus leaving for Eugene at 6:25 today, tickets are $23. www.greyhound.com

There are all sorts of methods of transportation to get you to Amtrak from 6th and Salmon including the Max. Learn your routes. :beatinto:

Not sure what difference it makes here. No one in there, and people laying in the door way. It sure did not look useful. I did only try one door. Never saw a bus either. Not like the old days. The main point was the other buses do not come to the area, so it is quite a walk.
In days gone by, all the bus lines converge at one spot. It was Taylor, only two block less than Salmon, but it sure seems far now, to the train station, a lot more stuff going down on the way now.

"10/31/2018 (Portland, OR) Absolutely DISGUSTING bus station. Completely surrounded by homeless people and the smell of urine and excrement. In fact, as I was entering the station, a man was urinating on the greyhound station's walls with the entirety of his member out in the middle of the sidewalk in broad daylight. I was HORRIFIED. OMG. My bus was also cancelled while I was waiting inside. The cancellation notice was given at the time that the bus was supposed to arrive and there were no other buses that day back home. I had to immediately make other plans. I then had to call customer service to get a refund on the ticket. They tried to give me a voucher but no way in hell am I ever going to take Greyhound ever again."

I remember when Day Music used to be the Ames Theater. My brothers and I saw a lot of movies there and at the Bob White just up the street. I heard a vague rumor a few month back that they may be turning Day Music back into a movie theater but don’t know the validity. Anything is possible the way they are bending over backwards to gentrify the whole Foster corridor.....talk about putting a tuxedo on a pig.......
My wife and I used to grill chicken gizzards and livers which we would dip in a small bowl with plenty of salt on the bottom and sesame oil poured over the top. All this was washed down with a truly ice cold bottle of beer. We would do that about five or six times a year. Now, with my disability, I can no longer do the grilling like I used to and we eat that about once a year.

Excuse me but occasional lamenting helps to ease the pain.

Speak for yourself, whippersnapper.

That's a pretty demeaning way to refer to Mrs. HCP. Shame on you.

LOL
But in all seriousness, his wife has got to be pretty special to put up with him.

Remember The Pink Bucket?
Oh hell yeah. Some neighbors called it The Blood Bucket. And when Nike was just starting out, they rented the space next door to the Pink Bucket (before they moved down to the west end of the Burnside Bridge. But that was back when they were still peddling Onitsuka Tigers). The Foster/Powell area was an interesting place to grow up in the ‘60’s. Not exactly seedy but you could certainly see it from there.......

I do remember Nike's very modest place next door.

Trump is so ■■■■ed.

Flynn's information is "beyond damaging" to Trump, Pence and their cohorts.

What a time to be alive :blazerwookie:

The old Greyhound station is where the new Hilton Hotel is.

‘Don Jr. departed this week on a hunting trip to Canada. “They think the bomb’s coming this week, and he doesn’t want to be anywhere near a microphone if the bomb drops,” the source said’

 Seeking asylum eh?

The old Greyhound station is where the new Hilton Hotel is.
I've been in the old Greyhound bus station many times when I was in the Army back in 1969. I had a job up at Ft. Lewis where I worked four days a week and had three days off. I used to ride Greyhound or sometimes Trailways back and forth to and from Portland. Had to walk up the hill beginning on College St. right past Mrs. Neuschin's to my parents' house near Council Crest in the dead of winter. I had ice all throughout my mustache on occasion.

Trump refused to get out of bed this morning, didn't report to "work" until late afternoon.

His downfall is delicious.
