Pretty amazing isn't it? It sure shows the glory of God. Yes the universe is big, but compared to who exactly? Us? God transcends us and all matter/time/space. The entire universe could be in a snowglobe sitting on God's nightstand (lol jk)

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Psalm 19:1

what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? Psalm 8:4

"What is mankind that you make so much of them, that you give them so much attention? Job 17:7

LORD, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them? Psalm 144:3

Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem? Isaiah 2:22

If God is in authority of the universe and the laws of nature, then sheer size of the universe is not really an issue with Him. God could have created them for purposes we do not know or to display His omnipotence and test the minds of men.

If God is an authority in the universe, why did he never mention the speed of light, relativity, evolution, extra solar planets? Christians are bigger band wagon fans than the Lakers.

Maybe God wanted us to find out for ourselves? There is reference to other planets. There was also reference of countless and endless amounts of stars too.

I don't see your point at all. Why didn't you tell your child of quantum mechanics at 2 years old?

I don't have a child, but I will. Your example is not relevant though, because humanity has the capacity to understand quantum mechanics if taught. A 2 year old doesn't because their brain isn't ready. A human from our time is not significantly different than a human from 0 BCE.

So wouldn't you agree that explaining modern science to BC man would be like explaining quantum mechanics to a two year old?

If you had no idea about science, then someone pops a simple equation of e=mc^2; how many peeps would know how to answer it?

No, that's my point. You only need 20 years of education to explain it, probably even less. Yes, you can't just suddenly say "Excuse me stranger, energy and mass are proportional!" But that doesn't mean God in his "infinite power" couldn't have spent 20 years educating a human. I think you're trying too hard on this one Mags. =\

Not really. You assume that the technology and "consciousness" was the same then as it is now. Obviously that's not even close to the case. If it was, her airplanes would have already been discovered by the Romans. Truth is, man back then didn't have the mental fortitude to truly understand science.

This is just another example of the narcissism inherent in organized religion. It boggles the mind really.

No, that's bullshit! You can learn the math and science. You may not have been able to prove it then, but it doesn't change the fact that the laws of science still applied. You would have taken much longer to recreate any of the items, but it is knowledge that can be learned!

So what, only He is allowed to play with his cylinder?

Does it really say "Don't Masturbate" in the bible?

I think if more people jerked off and released all that built up pressure, there would be less war and terrorism on this planet.

Dude, cut her some slack. Mrs. HCP only has two hands...

Not to talk down the religious people, but isn't the thought that we're really on our own to eventually travel across space and meet potential aliens and populate planets a much more interesting prospect than god watching over us and everything being predestined?

Why would He need to mention any of that to us? God gave us what we needed to know. The Bible is not a science textbook and has never claimed to be.

So you're saying there isn't science in the bible, and instead it's just a nice story. Got'cha. ;]

Never said that, but it sounds like you're expecting some 30 volume encyclopedia on how everything works instead of what's actually important, which is in the Bible. God can create a world and let us explore and discover things, which we have and still are.

I'm beginning to think people on this board are all having a laugh with an inside joke that some of us aren't in on.

Yeah tell me about it! I mean Communist Russia, China and other communist societies (Practicing ATHEISTS) are great examples of the people being free from the tyranny of religion and all peaceful and shit!

Bullshit? Just using the demographic of people in the dark ages, with 90% of them unable to read sways you closer to my argument.

They aren't unable to read because they lack the ability. It's just nobody taught them. We aren't talking about growing wings and flying here. It's something humans have proven to be capable of knowing.
