<div class="quote_poster">Locke Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Oh that's the scene you were talking about? I didn't think of it as a conversation, just mumbling random 'F' words. In retrospect though, it is pretty funny.

I rented the whole first season, burned copies of the DVDs, and now I watch it on TV.

It's sort a conversation, but more importantly it's their own language for which they use to solve the crime scene. You can tell simply by the tone and variation exactly what they're saying.

It's a beautiful scene.

I said "conversation" because I didn't want to spoil the fact that they solved a crime while doing it.

Anyway, which episode are you on now? Keep me updated as you go through, and your thoughts on the stuff. I'm a loser like that.

Currently on the fifth episode. I'm downloading Season 2 as well, renting takes money and time.

Just finished the fifth episode. Really liked the scene with D and his girl in the restaurant, really got you into his mind and revealed a lot about his character.

I'm starting to root for the gangbangers. Especially Brody and DeAngelo.

Bodie...

Chuck, what is entourage about?

<div class="quote_poster">TheBlackMamba Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Bodie...

LOL @ Brody

Shallow people.

It's about a famous young actor and his entourage of friends. It's basically Sex in te City for males. It's nothing groundbreaking, but it is quite funny, and plenty entertaining.

Crazy ish.</div>

Starting around that episode, **** really hits the fan and picks up in the next few episodes. Enjoy.

Once you start watching Season 2: The first few episodes are reaaaaaaly slow, albeit still good, but the rest are some of the best episodes of the series.

Finished ten as well.

Gotta say, really impressive show. The whole thing looks low-budget at times but the cinematography is amazing. For example whenever I see a mirror shot, I wonder if there's something special that's going on. Story's top-notch as well. How they ended the episode with Greggs on the brink of death was great as well. Can't wait till tonight to maybe finish the first season!

Proposition Joe: I heard your end would be covering my fee.
Stringer Bell: Your fee?
Proposition Joe: Yeah, I'm like a marriage counselor. Tell the man he oughta bring the bitch some flowers every once in a while. Tell the bitch she gotta suck some cock every once in a while. That sort of ****.
[Omar arrives]
Proposition Joe: Speaking of cocksuckers...
[to Omar]
Proposition Joe: I'm Proposition Joe. You **** with me, I'll kill your whole family.

I love this show. I think it's one of the funniest shows on TV, even though it's not a comedy.

Pay attention to the train tracks. The train tracks represent the paths that the institutions (in this case, the police) take. The conductor of the train represents the higher ups (Commissioners, etc); while they are conducting the train, they can only steer it along it's preordained path-- they can't steer it in any direction.

When McNulty is messing with Major Rawls earlier in the season, you'll notice he is pissing on the tracks. He almost gets hit by the train, but moves out of the way at the last second.

You'll notice in the next episode, after the thing with Kima, the train is stopped on the track.

There is all kinds of subtle stuff like that in The Wire. I didn't call it a visual novel for nothing.

edit: TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN WATCHING THE WIRE, IT WILL BE AIRING ON BET ON JANUARY 10TH OR 12TH. It might also be uncensored.

Finished the first season, and all I have to say is, wow...

Loved the action in the last few episodes. Intrigued to find out how the story can continue now, seems like the Barksdale crew has faltered now.

Started Season 2, got through the first four episodes, and yeah, they're quite slow. But with that team being formed **** will likely hit the fan again.

Was reading through the old posts in this thread and yeah, what Chuck said was so true. I kept waiting for the drug situation to rise up again in the first few episodes of Season 2 and got disinterested, but now that they've shed some light on the port guys, it's back to amazing.

It picks up around Episode 6. They have to set everything up.

You'll be really happy with Season 3, I think. All the storylines are brought back up from before.

The best McNulty moment ever comes later in the season. You'll know it when you see it.

First time I saw Season 2, I hated it. Second time I watched it, I loved it much more than Season 1, and every time I re-watch it, I think "wow this might be the best season." But then again I think that after every time I watch 3, 4, or 2.

Keep me updated with what you think.

Hey man, D got murdered...
nono.gif

I was heartbroken when that happened. I really like the character development this show does. Goes really in-depth and has me rooting for a 'bad' guy every season. Well, out of the first two anyways. The first season I was rooting for DeAngelo and Bodie, and now I'm rooting for Nicky.

I really like the Second Season so far. The port guys are so down-to-earth and I can see that happening in real life. The drug part though I can also see, but where I'm from, no one walks down the road with a shotgun and the cops don't even hear about it.

I caught a bit of this the other night, it was on at like 2:00am, I wasnt very impressed, I thought the acting was absolutley terrible.

I love/d Oz though, and I'm a huge Sopranos fan.

I actually think the acting is great. The roles are played really well, especially the gangsters.

Anyways, finished the second season. Not much to say except it was great again. Now I have to wait for the third season to finish downloading.

That's my favorite season

The Barksdale storyline is the forefront again

I just finished the first couple episodes and I'm enjoying it a lot. I got to say it's a refreshing break from the shows that feel obliged to throw a twist every few minutes (Prison Break, 24, etc.).

If you like shows that can slowly build up untill they are a 100000000 pound freight train going 100 mph, try Six Feet Under....Seasons 1-3 are simply fantastic...then they let down a bit but not that much. "Its better then 10 supersbowls, I don't want to oversell it so see it for yourself"....10 points if you recognize the quote.

BTW...does anyone know if season 1 of the Wire is available at blockbuster?

It should be available.

Finished Season 3!

Damn amazing season, but man, people had to die...

Dude, Season 3 of Six Feet Under is unbearable. I wanted to kill Lisa and dump her body in the ocean

The Wire is on right now here (at 12.22 am, lol), im watching it while listening to Lauryn Hill. It looks like a show I'd really like, I just can never get into it. When ever I see it, they're always on the same old block, theres always heaps of black people just wandering around aimlessly.

Thanks for that.

So you tried to catch the censored version of a show halfway through the episode, halfway through the season, with music playing, and with a closed mind going into it? Gee, wonder why you couldn't get into it...

The Wire is a visual novel. You read a novel from beginning to end, and give it your undivided attention. Every line of dialogue, every glance is important. "All the pieces matter" - Lester Freamon

Chill man, I'm not dissing the show, as I said, It looks like a show I'd really enjoy. I watched the last 15 - 20 minutes properly and did enjoy it.

I've been planning on downloading the first season for some time now, but I never get around to it. I'll go search for a torrent now.

Bumping this thread up because I finished Season 4 a month ago, and just today I met Melanie Nicholls-King who plays Cheryl, Kima's ex-girlfriend at the amusement park I work at. Had a conversation with her about the show and she revealed to me that they're filming the fifth season in Baltimore right now and that the storyline will be unlike any season before it. She also said you'll get a sense of closure from the ending.

Also met her son, who actually plays her son in the show too. Cool lady.<u><u></u></u>http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Melanie_Nicholls-King&action=edit
