The Wrath of Kahn

Can we get the rights to Petteri back? That would be acceptable compensation.

This was all brought up in another thread. I love that the media is on to it several days later though

Will they rerun picks 57 to 60, on a conference call minidraft?
<breathless>

Funny that the guy who accused Portland of not being forthcoming regarding the health of a traded player (Martell Webster) is now accused (and it appears on the surface that Minnesota is somewhat guilty) of the exact same.

Oh, David Kahn, you never fail to entertain.

I know it's been brought up before, but isn't that technically Dallas' pick, anyhow?

I would think it was Portland's pick, since the Denver and Dallas deals are supposedly considered final.

My question is what else is part of the supposed Minnesota deal? Was there more to it, or did we just deal the No. 57 for a future second-rounder?

You guys should listen to the BS Report from Friday ... Kahn sounds almost ... "smart?" (I think that's the word I'm looking for?)

I thought trades weren't officially finalized until a week or so after the draft. Plus, why would those deals be finalized, while Portland picking for Minnesota not be finalized? Weren't they all made on the same day? If Kahn backs out of this trade because of his own error, his credibility will be severely compromised around the league. Why would anybody trust working with him?

Well, considering we're supposedly introducing Felton to Portland media tomorrow, I'd assume that deal is finalized.

As for the reason the Minnesota deal wouldn't be finalized? Um, as has been reported in every article on the subject, an player deemed ineligible for the draft was drafted. I don't think it necessarily has anything to do with Kahn trying to back out - I would assume everyone is trying to figure out what to do about drafting an ineligible player.

I actually would like to see Kahn try to back out. That would just have people thinking he was even more bat-ass crazy than they already do. I wonder if the Minnesota scout that pushed to draft Tanguy will be fired. Talk about egg on your face. You're paid to do one thing, and you made an error on the most basic of things.

Can you CBA experts quote or link to this unknown, secret rule?

The current problem is really Stern's fault for having the stupid rule. Most people are at least 22 on the day they graduate. No seniors with a redshirt year can be drafted.

Both of the other guys we drafted this year are 22. There's a special rule for international players:

The player is an international player for whom at least one of the following is true:
* Is 22 during the calendar year of the draft
* Has played as a professional in the U.S. but outside the NBA
* Has declared himself an "Early Entry" player.

Ed O.

Thanks. The rule now makes sense. Quick's lazy wording, as usual. Left out the word international.

So, when it turns out Biyombo was really 24 when drafted, does that mean he'll instantly become a FA? :)

A bit off-topic but the T-Wolves have a pretty interesting roster with some young talent and some deep positions. I recognize their biggest weakness at SG, maybe we could help them for front-court help. Probably wouldn't give up Kevin Love but maybe Anthony Randolph. Nikola Pekovic will come even cheaper and he was considered a very good Center when in Europe.

Trade update

TRAIL BLAZERS ACQUIRE FUTURE SECOND ROUND PICK FROM MINNESOTA
Draft rights to Tanguy Ngombo sent to Timberwolves in exchange

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired a future second round pick from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for the draft rights to forward Tanguy Ngombo, it was announced today by the team.

Selected by Dallas with the 57th overall pick in the second round of last week's draft, Portland gained the draft rights to Ngombo as part of the trade that sent guard Rudy Fernandez to the Mavericks.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk..... Cause I'm a balla'!

Re: Trade update

Sweet, Minny's 2nd rounder could actually be good.

Re: Trade update

If there are no restrictions on that pick, then this might possibly be the best move from this draft for us.

Re: Trade update

lol, probably top 52 protected.

Re: Trade update

Yay! Probably will end up getting another Euro-stash.

Restrictions on a 2nd-round pick? Is that even possible?

Anything is possible when you're dealing with Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahn!

Re: Trade update

Yep. Same as first rounders. A lot of times, to include something, teams will do top 55 protected for three years, and then cash. I don't know why they just don't give the cash initially.

It was our best move in the draft! Do we credit all good moves to Buchanan and all bad ones to Allen? Or do we punt and praise Kahn?
