Go Fiji!

After 16 appearances in the Olympics, the tiny nation of Fiji has its first medal.

And it is gold.

The Fiji rugby sevens squad routed Great Britain in the gold medal game on Thursday night, winning 43-7 in a game that was never in doubt. Team GB seemed overwhelmed by Fiji's size and speed and couldn’t seem to bring down anyone with a clean tackle.

For Fiji, a small Oceanic nation that is comprised of over 300 islands in the South Pacific and boasts a population of just 800,000, it was nothing less than what was expected. The team entered the Olympics as the heavy favorites, led by Leone Nakarawa, who is listed at 6-6 and 240 pounds, and Semi Kunatani, who is 6-3, 240.

The sad thing is that the Olympic committee won't be phased by this. They're still making boatloads of cash. Nobody will actually hold them accountable for this shit show.

Fantastic for Fiji! Rugby 7's is the only sport they're good at; they're OK at rugby, but not elite. Rugby 7's is to rugby, as 3-on-3 is to basketball.

Maybe the HCP brought refried beans to Brasil and introduced it to the indigenous population.

Swimming has delivered this time.

Phelps, Ledecky, DiRado, Ervin, Manuel.... this has been one of the best Olympics I have ever seen for swimming.

BRoy was out on the course today watching!image.jpeg

Vijay Singh would argue that

Ducks WR Devon Allen just came in 5th in the 100 meter hurdles..... but at least it means he's probably not going full time yet. There was some talk of him going pro if he won gold.

Just watched that boxing match where that Irish boxer got robbed. It's a fucking disgrace! Actually it's a shame of a mockery of a joke. Ugh.
