1 - they arent getting soriano - we love cano at 2nd, and we are overloaded in the OF2 - Hughes will not be up, at THE EARLIEST september, probably 08 spring training3 - we probably will get a #3 starter and find a way outta Johnsons deal, with Moose #1 and Wang #2. Lidle can be #4 and Wright #5Our 25 man roster will be somethin along the lines of:C: Posada1B: Giambi2B: Cano3B: ARodSS: JeterOF

I read an article about how the Yankees are actually losing money due to the luxury tax. Last year they had to pay 77 million in luxury tax, added to their salary, their total spendings are over 280 million.So I seriously doubt that the Yankees will get Zito or Schmidt. And its way too early for Hughes. The Yankees will obviously still have the best lineup in baseball, but it'll be interesting to see how the pitching holds up. Wang has been an anchor, without Wang, there is no way that the Yankees are in 1st place in the East.

No. They payed 40% for every dollar over the limit in 2005 and 2006 which was like 130M (the limit). Plus, b/c they're in NY, they have all the media revenue which they have to share. And the CBA is up this winter, so we'll see what happens w/ that. But MLB needs a salary cap, or at least make the penalty dollar-for-dollar

Yes, the Yankees are losing money, but they lost money last year and it didn't stop them from adding Damon and Abreu.As for as the rotation, aren't Mussina and Wright free agents after the season? If so, then the Yankees will definately have to do something to add on to the rotation. I could definately see Schmidt going to the Yankees, and maybe re-sign Mussina to a 2-3 year deal as he is like 37. Randy Johnson should just retire...lolZito is unlikely because he already seemingly has his name all-but-signed on a New York Mets contract to reunite with the pitching coach who made him a Cy Young winner in Rick Peterson.
