Inevitably, there's been a shitload written about the election and there will continue to be for...ever. Or at least until we all die in global warming or the war that Trump will inevitably start to distract from his failure to keep his stupid promises. But, aside from the fact that more people voted for "fucking loser" Hillary Clinton than Donald Trump (something we would NEVER hear the end of if it were reversed, and Trump would right now be claiming to be the rightful president), Donald Trump actually got fewer votes than Mitt Fucking Romney. And yet now the Republican Party is The Party of Trump, leaving whatever shred of decency and claim to ideological consistency in tatters. But all those people saying "Not my president"? Maybe they learned a lesson from Breitbart during the Obama presidency.

Trump is going to have untrammeled power - yes. But it's not because even the majority of those people who actually voted wanted him. And a lot of those people who did vote for him are going to find that the things he does (starting with getting rid of Obamacare, of course) will fuck them up royally. And they'll be surprised. As they are by most things in life:

What a load. Obamacare is a dumpster fire.

California wants to secede. Let's remove our military gear, let them and then invade.

I actually hope they do. But get my 9ers out of there first. If Vegas won't take the Raiders, then perhaps they'll take Jed's little fucked up team.

Let California secede. I really hope they do. I hate that fucking place, and I'm ashamed that I was born there. Good riddance. Let them die alone; complete with ridiculous taxes, skyrocketing housing costs, crime, insufferable elitism, overwhelming homelessness, and unarmed defenseless victims.

Besides, it's not like most Californians love America.

oil, pharma, and bank stocks on the rise. the talk of the market tanking made me have some hope that he wasnt going to be a corporate shill, that maybe, just maybe he meant what he said about draining the swamp.

meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

The electoral college is one of the single dumbest things that exists, right up there with continuing to have a Royal family in the UK. But if they didn't change it after 2000 they're not now, and so he won fair and square.

All the people who criticized Trump for not saying he'd accept the results if he lost, are now the people not accepting the results because they lost. The hypocrisy is embarrassing.

Campaigning is different than Governing. No president actually does much of what they claim they will, or even intends to, Obama should have taught us all that. I'm also wary of what's going to happen, but people need to chill the fuck out and at least give this a chance before rioting in the streets like idiots. Protesting things that haven't even happened yet is stupid. Quit acting like petulant children who didn't get their way. If you do, then you have no moral high-ground to stand on.

Without the EC, we may as well just have the election in California.

Without California, Trump won the popular vote by millions.

The bigger question is what the markets will be like by the time he leaves office. Time will tell.

California doesn't want to secede....

Jesus....

Yep. Actually, California accounts for the entire Trump Popular vote deficit about 3 times over. New York also accounts more than the total US difference.

For someone to win with less votes in a democracy is mind-numbly stupid. California is only around 7.3% of the votes, so you're being a tad melodramatic. I think it's stupid to have all the votes in a state go one way or the other, thereby rendering every vote in the minority completely useless.

Thats assuming everyone in California votes one way. Also Mar added NY to that list, but conveniently forgot Texas is #2 and Florida is #4.

We're not a democracy.

Nor should we be.

California is 10% of the population. They already get a huge % of the EVs.

I think depressed people looked at the electoral map and saw that the West coast and Hawaii were blue....then they started thinking, that's way bigger than Japan...has food, timber, resources, pot, entertainment....surf's up! Fuck Ohio!!! Someone actually did start a petition in California yesterday but I don't think they realize how many Republicans and retired military guys in Orange County and San Diego County.....Might want to start their succession from Santa Barbara to the north

Not a democracy, fine. Historically speaking, what do we call it when the minority get their way?

Btw, my argument is based in the fact that I'm not a democrat and live in California. I knew my vote was worthless and so I didn't vote. I'm sure there are many more who did the same thing.

You know what I find interesting?

If 10 million fewer Dems voted in this election, they essentially cast their vote against Hillary by not voting.

They didn't vote Trump, but they certainly didn't vote Hillary. So does Hillary win the unpopular vote?
