....and I'm not happy about it.

I guess it's time to convert to CNN.....and start rooting for the Lakers! :mooning:

Naw, I'd never do that. Instead, I think I'll just post this scripture on my bathroom mirror....and all will eventually work itself out.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. ~James 1:2-4

Fox news evening lineup reminds me of McDonalds hamburgers. They might be the most sold, but they are some of the worst burgers available.

I still think Fox has an excellent pure news division, with Brett Bair, Shep Smith, Chris Wallace and Brit Hume, but their prime time commentary shows are unwatchable.

Speaking of which, whenever I visit Portland, I make absolutely certain that I take in my favorite burger joint......Killer Burger on 17th Ave. in Milwaukie......and enjoy a bacon cheeseburger with an IPA!

Not to try and take this thread to far off topic, my favorite hamburger place was Stanich's on about 50th and Fremont. Close to home and close to my dad's shop so it was always convenient and rated one of the best. I haven't been there for awhile and I had heard it had closed but is now open again. George Stanich was a character as well as he had many stories and he even had my baseball picture for all league posted in the bar back in the early 70's, woohoo.

I have been visiting Foster Burger lately and they cook a pretty good burger as well, but unfortunately closed up and a new owner is taking over that appears to be mostly vegan. They are supposedly going to retain some of the more popular Foster Burger items but have yet to try them.

Wow, maybe you need to watch less Fox? Fox News isn't actually your brain - even if they go out of business you'll still exist.

About two years ago, they opened up another one right down the hill from us on the corner of 47th and Sandy. My kids love the peanut butter burger!

You'd actually might be surprised as to how little I (and my bride) do watch. Perhaps, consider this thread to be me being a little bit self-deprecating. Is that the term? Hmmmm...maybe not. Tongue-in-cheek? Hmmm...maybe not that, either.

At any rate, the Blazers season is about ready to launch and I'm already steering towards non-partisanship in these parts. :smiley-makeout:

They also have one at the Moda Center. Bon Appetit.

Have you been to Stanich's recently? Wonder if they have regained their royalty among burger joints. My dad's shop was pretty close to you as he was on Cully Blvd north of Fremont where the used appliance store is now as they bought the building from my dad. Remember Boc's Burgers? A Grant High staple along with Yaws in the Hollywood district.

Hey, don't forget the "Original" Pancake House!!

Errrr........wait.

I was absolutely shocked at how much I loved that exact burger...

In keeping with this thread.....

There is only three people at FOX I care to watch.

1) Tucker Carlson
2) Greg Gutfield
3) Jesse Watters

Man, I just miss good ol’ Burgerville. A sack of their regular cheeseburgers with special sauce and a blackberry shake sounds pretty good right about now. I did find an Artic Circle over in Idaho this summer. Are there any left in Oregon?

Great for opinion with some humor.

For the news without bias I like Harris Faulkner and Bret Baier.

There is an Arctic Circle in Newport.

They are all over the place here on the east side as I have 2 fairly close with one on 92nd and Powell and the other on 26th and Powell. Always good food but they are a little on the high side compared to Dairy Queen which is very similar except Burgerville's onion rings are pretty good for a fast food place.

There's several in SE Portland, it's quite insane.

Not to be too on topic, I know where I'm at. Isn't this part of the problem with the "news" cycle and the media... Instead of telling us the truth, we have these massive "news" machines conjuring up what's the best strategy to create the narrative that they and the side they've chosen to root for will like. The entire notion of the "free press" and what they were supposed to do was to tell the people the truth. Instead, they've turned into these machines of half-truths and deceit. I realize Fox isn't the only one that does this but, I am glad the internet can help us see through some of the lies that our "news" sources are giving us. Really their entire argument is how do we do damage control for ourselves. That to me is rediculous.

I think Fox News decided the the news biz was heavily slanted left (which it is) and came out with their "Fair & Balance" mantra. An "equal time" kind of approach. Early on, it seems it was just Shephard Smith running the show. He's more or less just a newscaster. Then all the opinion folks started showing up (and leaving, as well.) That's when Fox really began to dig in their collective heels on the right. And they've never looked back.

While he's probably right, I still don't like the idea of Trump bashing CNN and the "fake news!" as much as he does. Not. Helping.

Mikes makes a good Burger.
Years back on McLoughlin there was Lew's Coney Island which also had great burgers.

Nothing like eating the fear of the cow!

Mike's was the shit!

Isn't the Lew's now a Mod Pizza?

my oldest daughter worked at Roake's on 82nd when she was going to high school. She also worked at Farrell's before that and I went to high school with the owners daughter in which a Sundae was named after her. I believe Roake's is still in business on Columbia Blvd and McLoughlin. No more Farrell's though as that was a great place to go to.
