someone should get a drone and fly around and record them, see what they look like. would be interesting.

Anyway to fly a big net under them and use the ropes as target practice? Maybe another ship can come from the other side.

They are not nearly a nutty as the Portland officials that failed to have them arrested and charged with the appropriate statues.
Just another example of the need to show the "correct response" (emotional).

Which statues should they charge them with? Some like these?

That's just bull.

Simple solution. Giant winch on one end of the bridge with a bunch of cables. Connect each cable to a rope with a d-ring, engage winch, pull the nitwits out of the way.

That's just bull.

Captain MarAzul beat me to it.

Blocking navigable waters is a federal offense.

The U.S. Supreme Court has held that the Commerce Clause (Article1, Section8) gives the federal government extensive authority to regulate interstate commerce of navigable waters.

You guys missed the joke. He wrote "statue" instead of "statute", hence the picture of the bull statue (which is the only one I could think of with which one might "charge" someone).

It was funny. Really. I promise.

Actually, I saw that, and took it as an honest mistake; I found no humor in it.

I also did not find any humor in your making fun of MarAzul's honest mistake.

Captain MarAzul was trying to enlighten people on a topic he is an expert in.

Some people are so sensitive...

Some people are so sensitive...

And some people are so insecure with their own abilities; they need to point out the meaningless mistakes of others rather than the constructive points in a post.

Yep, insecurity. That's it. Couldn't possibly be an attempt to inject levity into the thread... :sigh:

Seriously, do you intentionally suck the fun out of every conversation you're in, of does it come naturally?

Members of activist special interest groups need to be aware of changes to the federal laws that define terrorism, and the penalties associated with terrorist acts. The changes were made in the 1996 anti-terrorism act.

Example: Crimes committed against federal employees while performing their official duties can be classified a terrorist act. Blocking navigable waters is a federal crime, if the crime prevents the Coast Guard from performing their official duties, their activities may be classified a terrorist act which may result in much harsher penalties..

My point is, there are new twists in the federal laws that might get good people with good intentions into a lot of trouble.

I don't like protests that impede others from doing their work or living their lives, especially when they break the law to do so. Go march around the Obam house if you must, but impeding Navigation is out of bounds.

I kept hoping somebody would start a little of this action with them:

You mean like dumping tea into a harbor?

I live right near the saint johns bridge and the one big thing I hated about this was how much damn traffic it brought into my neighborhood from everyone wanting to go to cathedral park and see the protesters. Other then that I don't mind what they were doing.

Ha! Right on queue. Yes that was a pretty good protest, they did not impede anyone one, stop any traffic or Navigation ( the ship was anchored I believe).
If these guys did the equivalent, they would back they vehicles up to the edge of the dock and empty their gas tanks into the river. You can bet that would
get their asses in the slammer in short order.
