There's nothing more useless than having these pitchers hitting.
 
I never cared for the DH rule either. If you take the field, you should bat. And dealing with a weak hitting pitcher in the 9th spot has always added strategy and drama to the game rather than make the game worse.

If I were manager, I'd bat the pitcher 8th instead of 9th. He'd get a few more at bats than in the 9th spot, but he'd also be batting behind a guy a bit more likely to get on base. He'd be in better position to bunt, that is. And in the 9th spot, I'd bat a 2nd leadoff type of hitter.
