Brown also outlined three legislative priorities related to guns she said she plans to pursue during the 2017 session, which begins in January. They include:
Closing the "Charleston Loophole" – This bill will seek to prevent individuals who shouldn't own guns from obtaining one. Current law allows any sale to proceed if state police are unable to determine a person's eligibility to buy a gun within three days.
Closing the "Boyfriend Loophole" – This bill would expand the types of relationships that qualify under "domestic violence" charges to include those convicted of certain crimes of domestic violence and stalking.
Banning extended-capacity magazines – The bill would ban future purchases of high-capacity magazines.
