The 2005-06 Jazz, which won 41 games on the backs of Okur/Boozer (Aldridge), a young rookie PG Williams (Lillard, who is actually a couple years older as a rook), and a do-it-all SF in AK47 (Batum).

Pick a comparison team and play along.

1948-49 Providence Steamrollers-- We've got Batum for the Ernie Claverly point-forward role, Lillard in Howie Shannon's RoY assist-leader role, George Nostrand as LMA down low....and because Denny and Maris are the only ones who could dispute it. Though Maris might have Zapruder film of their games up in his attic. ;)

06-07 Blazers?

Aldridge = ZBo
Lillard = Roy
Leonard = worse Aldridge
Wessy = better Dixon
Batum = better Udoka
Nolan = Jack

We won 32 games that year, ended up with the 6th worst record, and won the lottery in the summer. Maybe my 20-30 win prediction for us this year is a bit off because we're better than that team now.

Love the winning the lottery part. Would love to get the #1 pick next year.

My 7th grade hoop team that finished 25-57!

Williams > Lillard
AK 47 > Batum

Would that it were not so.

He's also Australian. So you're right, the analogy collapses completely.

Williams put up 11 pts/4.5 assist/28mpg on that team. I think we'd all consider it a massive disappointment if Lillard does that badly this year. Deron Williams will have the better career, but I think Lillard projects to be a better rookie PG.

Definitely right about AK. Aldridge is significantly better than anybody on that team, though, so maybe that makes up for it a little.

A lottery pick should be very small consolation, not an effing brass ring...

Wow, your team played a lot of games!
Those are the combined point totals for all fifteen games they played that season. I hope HCP will put his autographed helmet from that season up for sale on ebay some time soon...

Winning the lottery is big no matter what team you are and we're in contention you are (rebuilding, fighting for a playoff spot, aiming for a championship)

I've seen people in here and elsewhere openly root for injuries and/or losses because they want a shot at a better lottery pick. I refuse to root to lose.

I'm sure San Antonio really bemoans winning the lottery that one time. Not a brass ring my ass.

My point is that a lottery pick shouldn't be a target during the season. All it should do is take some of the sting out of sucking all year AFTER THE SEASON IS OVER.

They remind me of the 11-12 Blazers

LaMarcus = LaMarcus
Batum = Batum
Hickson = Hickson
Matthews=Matthews

I don't ever want to see any player on any team get injured. Ever. And as Herm Edwards has CLEARLY stated:

That said.... The #1 Pick SURELY would be money! :smiley-money-mouth:
