Not sure how much I'm looking forward to the 2014 season. Especially when you take into account that our entire infield will be in question.

No A-Rod at third. A 40 year old shortstop & not knowing if he'll be very productive let alone survive the entire season. Possible life without Cano. Because you just know that some team is going to offer him 8-9 years. And then there's first baseman Mark Teixeira who's offensive #s have been declining over the last 3-4 years & now he's coming back after missing the entire season.

And to make matters worse, who will be our catcher. And who covers the outfield if Grandy is not resigned. A 40 year old in right (Ichiro), A 38 year old in left (Soriano) & Gardner in center.

And then there's the pitching, No Kuroda, No Pettitte, A declining & unpredictable Sabathia. (Did I also say overpaid?) And as toping on this collapsed birthday cake......no closer.......OH THE HUMANITY!

Rick, I am lamenting this the same way you are. It has been said so many times before on the old espn boards and now here how the front office and Cashman have crippled this franchise. They are going to have an off season of challenges that I don't have a degree of confidence they can meet. I have lost all confidence in their decision making and have come to question their commitment to winning. As a franchise, we have had an unbelievable run. However as a realist, I would welcome a total rebuild and I feel you could sell it to the fan base also if it was anyone but Cashman heading the rebuild. So I see Cashman leaving after the season. His choice or theirs. Girardi, if I'm Girardi, inside I'm pissed at the support I got from the front office and I take the Nationals job or maybe the Cubs, but he has had to lose confidence in the organization to. So sign and trade Cano and pay his salary even to bring the youth that can be the cornerstone and target 2015 or 2016 as the next playoff years if the talent in the low minors arrive. We are doomed for about 2 years, or more if the same business model is in place.

Yanks look like 4th best team in division next year and resemble more like the 65 yankees than a legit playoff contender. Its the curse of moving to wfan where only the sucky teams reside and we will fit right in.

That and throwing 4 interceptions in Game 2 after throwing 3 in game 1... if he keeps this pace up, Eli will have thrown 56 interceptions which will shatter the record from 1962 of 42... Pathetic!
