Where the fuck is Terry? I wonder if anyone on the coaching staff will say anything. He was 5 for 18 at the time he attempted that monstrosity. To his credit, he's reeled in his shot selection quite a bit this year, but tonight was a major step back. Really hope this gets back in control, because no one in the league would have attempted or dared to attempt that shot in that situation

He was off. Get over it. He's made shots farther out than that was. The bottom line is the Blazers won. He will make that next time. He's a confident player. I love the fact he isn't afraid of the sitch like others in the league are.

Not saying that wasn't a bad shot, because it was. He could've ran another pick and roll instead of chuck it up.

But to say no one in the world would've attempted that shot means you didn't watch game 7 of the 2016 finals.
Theres no difference between Curry's fadeaway contested 3 pointer he took at 1:11 on the clock in the 4th, and the shot Lillard took tonight.
Both are awful shots and players like Curry & Lillard can get better.

7 seconds left on the shot clock when he decided to shoot. That is getting close to put it up time. I don't see any pass he had available other then to Pat and he was guarded so I would rather Dame put up a long un-guarded one then Pat hoist up a guarded shot. I not defending him shooting that shot every time. This time though I don't see much better options (if at all).

Curry is a career 44% 3pt shooter and the best to ever shoot the three off the dribble.

Dame is... not. He has shot over 37% only once in his career and this shit % is largely due to his shot selection. We all know this but some just choose to ignore it.

Good shot selection should be encouraged. And coaches need to hold players accountable to be smarter. When a guy is 5 for 18, that is not the shot to shoot.

Dame has reeled in his shot selection? I hadn't noticed...

Give it a rest. What's the point of this forum if we can't speak our minds about something so obviously flawed?

You can speak your mind. If I really had a problem with the thread I would have closed it or merged it with the game thread. Just having some fun. I sincerely apologize if that bothered you.

I gave you an example of a player taking a bad three and you fire back with shooting %. What a joke.

See what you should've said is. 'yeah you're right, I was wrong to say no one would've dared to attempt a shot like that in that situation. You're right, I watched the 2016 finals and Curry's shot selection was bogus. You're right, it was just like Lillard's tonight'.

Instead you come back with this comment.
What a joke, this is why I can't take people like you seriously.

It's my fault. I poked fun at his thread which wasn't nice and understandably pissed him off.

No, I'm saying Curry's shot selection is a bit more justifiable than Dame's because he is an elite shooter while Dame is actually below league average. And even he would get reprimanded for taking a shot like Dame did if he were shooting so poorly

Huh? Do you have anything of value to add? If this is really all that silly of a thread, feel free to merge.

I'm not sure what you want. I deleted my original post, I've apologized, and tried to make sure there isn't an argument brewing between you @honkicracker over something I started.

Again, I'm sorry that I originally poked fun at your thread. I fully admit I was teasing you. Is there anything else that you would like me to do or say?

Yes. Tell me that this place just isn't the same without me and that I'm a righteous dude.

Dame has for his entire career put up big end game numbers...tonight they came up short...Kemba Walker wore him down..the dude is one of the fastest guys in the league...right up there with Kyrie Irving...takes a lot of energy to keep him in front of you and Dame wasn't fast enough all night...he was gassed...most nights he'd put up 30 by the end of the 4th....credit Walker for having a monster effort

Look at the other 4 Blazers on the floor. Three of them are not moving (guarded) and are 25 feet from the basket. That leaves Aminu who he looks first to pass to, but then a charlotte player steps in the way. And what is Aminu going to do in 7 seconds? I prefer Dame to take a 40 foot shot then let Chief dribble in traffic or take a contested midrange jumper. That is not the guy you give the ball to in that situation when a quicker players is on him. That offensive possession had no movement.

Lillard isn't below league avg. https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/three-point-pct Shows you the last 2 years the league avg is about 35% Dame is above that at 37%. While it is certainly not a great shot if you go to nbasavant.com and look up Lillards shot from 26+ feet its 36.485% which is damn close to what his regular 3p% is.
