This is NOT acceptable

Look at the other 4 Blazers on the floor. Three of them are not moving (guarded) and are 25 feet from the basket. That leaves Aminu who he looks first to pass to, but then a charlotte player steps in the way. And what is Aminu going to do in 7 seconds? I prefer Dame to take a 40 foot shot then let Chief dribble in traffic or take a contested midrange jumper. That is not the guy you give the ball to in that situation when a quicker players is on him. That offensive possession had no movement.
Woulda preferred a timeout. He picked up his dribble too early and compounded the mistake. Such a crucial possession -- we needed to do better.

Lillard isn't below league avg. https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/three-point-pct Shows you the last 2 years the league avg is about 35% Dame is above that at 37%. While it is certainly not a great shot if you go to nbasavant.com and look up Lillards shot from 26+ feet its 36.485% which is damn close to what his regular 3p% is.
League average this year at 36.2% Dame is at 36.9. Not much of a difference, but not below either as i had said

Dame is our leader and best player. We are a basement team without him. Guy can take whatever fucking shots whenever and wherever he wants. I’ll live and die by him out there.

I tend to agree with this to a certain extent. He did have a few bad shot selections late in the 4th and was off tonight but I trust no other Blazer in that situation. He was open in the following clip. He makes those threes a lot. All through his career. I mean I think the guy has played consistently enough for years, I think he has earned the right to take that shot. Wasn't contested. Your only other options in that play is for CJ to iso or run a pick and roll with Nurk. These other guys can't hit shots even when open most of the time. I think this thread is a bit dramatic to be honest. That shot I actually wanted Dame to take, the one I thought was bad was the contested fade away mid range jumper.

Where the fuck is Terry? I wonder if anyone on the coaching staff will say anything. He was 5 for 18 at the time he attempted that monstrosity. To his credit, he's reeled in his shot selection quite a bit this year, but tonight was a major step back. Really hope this gets back in control, because no one in the league would have attempted or dared to attempt that shot in that situation

............and Dame had 7 on the shot clock. Why not attempt that pass at the top of the key? It looked like Aminu (hard to tell) had a clear shot from an attemptable distance. Perhaps game management is not a Stotts asset and Dame thought desperation at that given moment.

No, I'm saying Curry's shot selection is a bit more justifiable than Dame's because he is an elite shooter while Dame is actually below league average. And even he would get reprimanded for taking a shot like Dame did if he were shooting so poorly
You're right. 4-14 is more justifiable than 5-18.
Man what was I thinking.

It's my fault. I poked fun at his thread which wasn't nice and understandably pissed him off.

That's fine, but at the end of the day I see nothing to argue about. He's wrong and he knows it.
I'm sure if he chooses to respond he'll again change his 'argument' in an attempt to 'win' on the internet... But I have better things to do than repeat myself.

Give it a rest. What's the point of this forum if we can't speak our minds about something so obviously flawed?
True. Flawed like Dame's 47 foot 3 attempt, or us getting hosed in LITERALLY every loss by the refs

Am I in the will?

WIDE open with the clock running down. Decent shot
The issue is there's a big difference between a 'decent' and 'good' shot. With the time remaining, Portland could've gotten a much better shot than just decent.

....said Jim Jones followers.

The amount of confidence these guys (all stars) have is what makes them great. I believe Damian thought 100% that he could make that shot. You have to live with it. Its like having a quarterback who makes the occasional terrible throw and gets picked off. You can throw screens and hand it off all day and avoid all interceptions but great ones don't do that.

End of the day, probably not a great shot. But that's what makes him special.

If CJ tried that shot this thread would already be at 20 pages of people crying about him not getting traded.

I keep watching that and I really can't find an issue with the shot. Sure, it's really long but it's also completely unguarded. I'd expect him to make more than half of those, shooting in an empty gym and that's essentially how unguarded that shot was.

Nailed it. People just like to bitch.

I’d take that wide open 3 from dame all day.

He was off. Get over it. He's made shots farther out than that was. The bottom line is the Blazers won. He will make that next time. He's a confident player. I love the fact he isn't afraid of the sitch like others in the league are.

I agree. It wasnt that bad of a shot. He has made them there before and after he pulled the juke, we had no defender on him withint 5ft. a wide open 40' practice shot.

Soooo what.

Maybe he should have drove. Fine. But I have no problem with this shot. If it goes in, you hail him a hero...

Fricken feast or famin around here... never any steady.....

The Blazers won...close thread

I've seen him take way worse shots. Fading away with guys in his face. This one was set and wide open, I don't see why it's so atrocious that a thread has to be made about it

Some people don't know how to be happy or pleased or just get rid of the pissy mood altogether and it flows into everything else they touch or get involved with. Including forum conversations. ;)

NOT calling out the OP, just stating the obvious in general about this place.

This place can be a haven for the constant negative attitude. mostly a place to vent these days right?

Right, with a WIDE open shot. You take that shot with 8 seconds left ot give you time to rebound and put back in case you miss....

Thought you were a coach? ;)
Guys on my teams that shoot 40 foot jumpers with time to run an actual play on the clock sit next to me for the rest of the game. Fucking ridiculous shot selection.
