A demoralizing loss is just what this team needs. As horrible as it sounds to say, but we aren't at Boston's level yet... We needed a good old fashioned but whoopin' to give these guys a wake up call and realize we can't just skate through this league. We are going to have to earn it. We are going to be good, we already are good, but we aren't great and it doesn't happen overnight. Playing the defending champions on the road, with the best record in the league, on the 4th game of a five game road trip is never an easy task. Rondo is just too quick for our guards, I'm hoping Bayless progresses into the quick, physical guard that he is supposed to.

That said, someone seriously needs to elbow Garnett in the throat, he is quickly becoming my personal most hated player, even ahead of Kobe. Oh and Kendrick Perkins is the ugliest person I've ever seen. He is one nasty looking creature. I now understand why they call Glen Davis, Big Baby, that guy is a piece of shit. Sulking on the bench while his team is up by 20, what a team player. That guy is a douche. Pierce needs to realize that the Celtics weren't anything until the other cronies came over, so he needs to stop talking shit. The only guy I have respect for on that team is Ray Allen always has been a class act.

I would take a demoralizing victory rather than a demoralizing loss any time.

Shrug. If we win, think we're good, and go on a long losing streak, that would be bad.

If we lose, remind ourselves that we have to play hard every game, and go on another win streak,
then the loss is better. I'm hoping for the latter.

I agree with you zags (well no it's not the "best" thing, but still), especially after watching the team coast through the last few games. They need to start bringing it the entire game, blowing out the weaker teams and at least giving themselves a chance to be competitive against better teams like Boston.

i'm sure none of the players had any delusions about being at boston's level yet. we don't even really have a set rotation at this point. also we obviously haven't been doing any skating. if anything we've been overachieving by playing hard.

Best thing I saw tonight was Jerryd Bayless playing without fear ... Christ that kid needs to get on the floor, he reduces our "pussy coefficient" by about 10 when he sets foot on the floor.

I couldn't agree with you anymore about Bayless. Nate needs to find a few minutes for him most games.

unfortunately frye ups it about 20

The best thing to happen to the Trailblazers would have been to win by a lot.

That said, I predicted 4-1 on this road trip, with a loss to Boston. Still on track. That would be fantastic.

Well, there are two ways to go from here.

Take your beating and shrug it off, or take it like a man and learn from it.

The response in the Toronto game is going to be big. Much like the response after the Laker game was huge, and the Golden State game and the Sacramento game.

2 of those were losses, and the 3rd should have been (and felt like one). How they responded after each of those was different than how they would have last year.

Respond with a W against Toronto, and the Boston loss won't be so bad (after all, they ARE the best team in the league). Respond with an L against Toronto, and they will have to win against Orlando.

I hope they come out of the gates like they did against Chicago after the Golden State game. The bad thing is, the Golden State game was a different kind of loss. It was the loss against the annoying neighbor kid who had his one good moment in the sun. The loss tonight was like against your cousin who is a complete ass face, who you want to kick in the nuts after he made fun of your car, hit on your girlfriend and told her that you used to wet the bed until you were 15.

We have really played poorly the past 3 games, imo. New York, Washington and now Boston.. but we won 2 of them because we were clearly the superior team... I also think its good we got our butt's kicked. We were really lathargic out on the court, and just going through the motions recently, so hopefully a loss will wake them up. I think we will respond to this well, and Toronto (i think) is the final game of this road trip, and we FINALLY get soem home games, where we will start blowing out people again, or at least get more 20+ point wins (we have 3 so far).

I'm continued to be impressed with Boston's help defense and their communication. Its wonderful. That is the reason tehy are the champs. THey aren't too great on offense, but all you have to do to understand the "defense wins championships" saying would be to look at Boston this year and last year. Its awesome to watch.

Well luckily that weird, nerdy, foreign exchange student who talks funny is walking up to you on the street and his face is just begging for you to push it in.

Cousin Balki?

This Thread reminds me of HCP's "There's no such thing as a bad loss" Thread!

I think that this game shows you that as far as Portland has come this season there is still a long way to go. I'm impressed with the team this season, I was hoping for a better showing, but I was being realistic with predicting a loss in Boston.

As bad as this team was in transition, we've seen other teams do worse in more important games:

This has been a friendly reminder that not all is lost.

I agree completely. Kid looked damned good out there tonight, the best showing of the season for him.

Maybe it can help us. But we need to watch out. Denver is playing well. And did you see Utah pounce on Toronto? Utah is getting healthy again and they area beast of a team. I can see them recovering to get the division this year...unfortunately.

Absolutely right. That was the best defense I've seen against the Blazers all year.

i think a win would have been better, just me though.

who was oden guarding to foul out? perkins? wtf?

I think that we just had an off night and Boston's D was only partially responsible. I think we beat these guys in the RG on the 30th. What did KG say to Davis to make him cry? I thought it was a bit lame when Boston's starters came back in during garbage time. I'm glad Nate wasn't classless enough to do that too.

I'm not too bummed, but DAM Channing pissed me off! He was HORRIBLE!

Boston's defense was remarkably suffocating and we have no answer for Rondo's driving which was one of my fears. I expected a loss and thus am not disappointed - they are the better team and we still have growing to do. There will be bumps and bruises and no instant satisfaction.
