Phoenix wanted to be rid of Ayton even more than we wanted to move on from Nurk. We'll see who's right.yaaa, it just wasn't the same Jusuf. Kind of a letdown. You'll see cool highlights of Nurkic to showcase his skills, but they're from a couple years ago.
Last year Nurk had a eurostep layup, a couple chippy dunks, and a falling down basket that almost won the game. Not much to look at.
His big game was early season vs. Jokic. He shut the MVP down!
Cronin must have sent a tape of that Nuggets beatdown to Phoenix. They loved what they saw, and those PHX dummies traded Ayton for Nurkic. lol
Unengaged ayton was 18 and 10 last year, he was also pretty dominant when he was engaged when they went to the finals.Phoenix wanted to be rid of Ayton even more than we wanted to move on from Nurk. We'll see who's right.
You do you, man… but I don’t see how you can think “here we go again” when we have no clue how this team is going to perform. Most of the team is brand new. There’s no “again.” This is a fresh start.
Here comes the bandwagon. Hop aboard!
The Blazers just started the Perfect Rebuild.
" I can't wait to see what this team looks like this season."
Hey I’m very excited. I flew here for Fan Fest. Just saying you were exaggerating.Props for choosing to post something negative in a thread about being excited about the team. Really had to dig for it.
I do have a pretty good idea of how we are going to perform. I feel like most people have a pretty good idea of how we will perform. Our Vegas odds aren’t great for a reason.
We’re going to suck.
A lot of youth. A lot of new faces that haven’t played together. No star. No superstar. How often does that combo turn into a lot of wins?
And “it’s again” because we’ve not-so-quietly tanked the last 2 seasons, at least we know what it is from the start.
Depending on how Scoot and Shaedon turn out, I may start getting excited in about 2 years or so.
And legitimate excitement? Comparable to Roy, Oden LMA means we need Scoot AND Shaedon to be all-stars AND then we somehow get the #1 pick in a “Wemby” year which is how Oden was (rightly or wrongly) viewed.
We are far, far away from that.
Most excited I've been in years. Just nice to have something different...yet with lots of upside. Definitely the most stacked young roster we've had since Oden was drafted. Just a case of seeing if they can put it together better than that team, and stay healthy.
and it's not a symbol of liberty.I'm all excited until I remember that for the 10th straight year, we will have a small backcourt. At least we have more size up front, but a small backcourt that doesn't play much D kind of rings a bell to be honest.....and the bell is cracked.

Interesting...I've not yet seen Scoot play enough to put that label on him. The reality is, that this team can't be judged on the past, as they are all young and the leader of the team did not set the tone for aggressive defense. We'll find out over the next few months.
1) Lol have you looked at the prediction thread? There are people who think we will be fighting for the playoffs/playin/be a .500 team.I'm confused. We all know we're going to suck this year.
It's not about this year.
If you were an OKC fan would you have said they sucked? We got picks just like they do (though not as many) we have promising players (just like they do) we are just two years behind them and now some people are saying they are about to burst.
OKC tanked for 2-3 years, too and are now about to show something while also having future draft capital. We are just a little behind them because we had a top 75 of all time player. Now we have picks and promise. It's going to take a while because that's how real life works.
This take is very confusing because it takes nothing about the future into account. It's very odd.
That hit home tonight. No matter how good he is, Scoot is small. I didn’t know how small he was.I'm all excited until I remember that for the 10th straight year, we will have a small backcourt. At least we have more size up front, but a small backcourt that doesn't play much D kind of rings a bell to be honest.....and the bell is cracked.
Magic and Hornets will make a jump this year. They play D and Banchero and Ball may be All Stars soon. Just what we’re expecting with Scoot and Shaedon next season.1) Lol have you looked at the prediction thread? There are people who think we will be fighting for the playoffs/playin/be a .500 team.
2) Yes, I know it’s not about this year, so why would I be excited about this year? We’re most likely going to suck and we have a bunch of unknowns that we will probably get answers too. So I might start to get excited for the future depending on how this season goes.
3) I did address the future. I specifically stated I might start to get excited in 2 years depending on how Scoot and Shaedon play.
4) Comparing us to OKC is interesting. They don’t have a bunch of short guards. They’re the opposite of us. But anyway, as mentioned previously, if either Scoot or Shaedon turn into Shai, I’ll get excited.
5) There are a bunch of really, really shitty teams that constantly LIVE on the “it’s not about this year, we are adding talent… just wait for [x] player to develop!” train. So once again, I’ll reserve my excitement for when one of our players looks even remotely as good as SGA.
6) As OP eluded to earlier, with this team I KNOW I’m going home with blue balls. Why would I be excited for this season? So we can lay the foundation for next season? Just like the Pistons, Magic, Hornets, Wizards do every year?
I’ll get excited when I see something worth getting excited about.
Scoot isn't playing center. That hit home tonight. No matter how good he is, Scoot is small. I didn’t know how small he was.
What about Indiana? They're expecting to make a jump too. And Detroit.Magic and Hornets will make a jump this year. They play D and Banchero and Ball may be All Stars soon. Just what we’re expecting with Scoot and Shaedon next season.
100% agree! The last time I was this excited about the future of the team, we traded for Pippen. I was camping when it happened. My dad and I were sitting around camp listening to the radio as the rumors continued to pour in. That team was ready to contend. This team is rebuilding, but the excitement is still the same.
It's crazy how this team reminds me of the 96-97 team.
Bob went out and got Sheed, JR Rider, and signed Kenny Anderson. He drafted Jermaine. He traded for Augmon mid season. The next summer he signed Brian Grant and traded for Damon halfway through the season.
I haven't seen a GM flip a roster like this since Whitsitt.
Well your level of excitement once again correlates with expectations of this roster and its level of talent. If you think they are going to win 40 games…..compared to 20….. should be fun regardless.I'm all excited until I remember that for the 10th straight year, we will have a small backcourt. At least we have more size up front, but a small backcourt that doesn't play much D kind of rings a bell to be honest.....and the bell is cracked.
I wonder if him being bulky give the optical illusion making him appear shorterScoot isn't playing center.
He's not smaller than Lillard or Steph Curry.
The fact that the team is taller than usual too. No CJ, no Dame.I wonder if him being bulky give the optical illusion making him appear shorter
Everyone wishes the end of the defensive-liability shooting guard.I honestly think that the difference on defense compared to offense of starting two small guards as opposed to a small guard and bigger guard will become apparent really quickly. The one thing that we never had to counter the Dame/CJ pairing was an ultra talented SG with size like Shaedon seems to be. I think Chauncey and the rest will realize fairly quickly that we need to develop our players that bring more size and length to the court and even the back court than what we've been doing for the last eight fucking seasons.
Yeah it's honestly been fucking apparent to the rest of the league for the last 8 seasons and more but maybe just maybe Shaedon's talent along with our depth of young wings will help these idiots to move on from the super small back courts that they've been trying to make work for almost a decade. That shit don't play unless you have two monster defensive small guards like Zeke and Dumars and even then it was short lived success.Everyone wishes the end of the defensive-liability shooting guard.
Warriors won a title with Steph and Poole. Mavs won a title with JJ Barea and Jason Terry. Dame and CJ had the 8th ranked defense one year, and made the conference finals with a one armed horrible defensive Kanter the other.I'm all excited until I remember that for the 10th straight year, we will have a small backcourt. At least we have more size up front, but a small backcourt that doesn't play much D kind of rings a bell to be honest.....and the bell is cracked.
I don't care about shooting guard defensive liability more than any other liability on the court. Would I prefer its a strength instead? Of course, but NBA players all have positives and negatives.Everyone wishes the end of the defensive-liability shooting guard.
Off the bench? I find that funny.I find it funny that the small guard issue weighs so heavily on some of you. When is the last time that the Blazers have the option of bringing a quality 6’5” PG and 6’5” SG who is crazy athletic off the bench if the starters’ defense is causing problems? When is the last time the Blazers had not one, but two, quality defensive big men available to help cover defensive issues?
