I'm guessing the Big Bosses came down on Nate to get some control on this board, and Nate has to play the mean guy.

All this for an unpaid title with very few benefits within the online community.

How emasculating that must be, to put up with it, quit once, then come crawling back only to play the same role again...

Ahem. People? If it's the law, you can write your congressperson and try to get it changed. Meanwhile it's the law. Not sure how that is emasculating...
 
It's fun to rib Nate about the OP, but at the same time realize he is correct. It is proper to summarize the gist of the article then post a link.

The law is the law. Laws exist to protect those who own property, especially if it's a lot of property. Ours is not to reason why. Ours is but to do and die.

I think I explicitly said you can try to change a law you don't like.

But you can't expect the mods to say go ahead and break it.

That's not "proper" on terms of legality, though, although I'll add that I have rarely, if ever, posted an entire article. Plus, I always use a link as a source credit.
 
So here is the deal with me. I'm a little rebellious to start out with. Somebody tells me I "need to stop" doing something because I could get in legal trouble, my rebellious reaction is to do it again and dare them to sue. Probably not the best way to handle things, but that's the way I roll, I guess.

So Nate, maybe next time a more pleasant title that we do things differently rather than telling us what we have to do might get a friendlier thread and SPD won't have to come to the rescue . . . or should I say "you need to ask nicer" :)

The OP was plenty friendly. The thread is only the usual suspects bucking and creating drama, which is what they do best.

You're right. You did everything plenty freindly . . . it's everybody's else who is at fault.

Things do go wrong sometimes. There are times when it's accidental. There are times when it's somebody else's fault. But at the times when you know you are at fault for the problem, the mature and responsible thing to do is stand up and own up to the mistake, accept the consequences, and be part of the solution to the problem resulting from your mistake.

I don't think you were disrespectful. I do think it could have been said a little different and the title comes across as confrontational, but whatever, I don't care. Just thought I would try to explain why I think some posters reacted the way they did in this thread, but you let me know that I'm wrong and it really is all the other poster's issues.

Actually I'd have been fine, except I hadn't seen your signature, which is blatantly trolling me. Seeing it, it's obvious part of the reason you wanted to be a mod again is so you could have some sort of authority in your life.
