*Summer season over.
how long of a recovery is that?
Well, I would imagine a full heal would take a couple months. I believe it's on his shooting hand, and anybody who has played with a hurt thumb knows that it hurts like a bitch because you constantly hit the sucker.

Ouch! A tear (as oppose to a strain) of a ligament can't be good (worse than a broken bone). Will they repair it with surgery or does he just live and play with one less ligament in his hand?
This really sucks . . . fell bad for T-Rob
Not to be a punk, but tear and strain are often used interchangably. 3rd degree muscular strain means it's torn all the way through to where you can't really feel pain in it because it's not connected (use the same for ligaments), 1st degree strain is a very minor tear, and 2nd degree strain is basically in between, and typically by far the most painful. Sounds like he has a 1st or 2nd, I would guess first and they're just being careful.
Not a punk, good information to know.
Only experience I have had is I tore my ACL. I remember hoping it was just a strain (as the doctor described it) but MRI showed it was a clear tear where they said I could either live without fixing it but have an unstable knee or replace it with surgery. So I just assumed a tear meant the ligament was torn through. I also always thought ligaments don't grow back or repair themselves . . . true?
