Time for Curry to sit.

It’s been 17 games. Is that enough to make a judgement? If not, it’s close. Doesn’t necessarily have to be permanent but I think Layman deserves minutes over Curry. Layman could expand his game with the second unit.

If not Layman, maybe Trent. He’s the only one on the team who hasn’t been given a chance to play rotational minutes.

I feel like because Curry was our "prized" FA get this summer, Stotts and the FO will continue to prioritize playing him no matter how low his advanced stats get.

Nope. I dont agree. They need to sit ET, and they definitely need to quit putting ET and Aminu out there at the same time. Curry needs to play point in the second unit thats his natural position. Put Trent or Simons, or Jake in there. Let the second unit have 5 guys who can hit a shot, and the whole unit is pumpfake, dive, kick, ball movement player movement. No ET pounding the ball, no ET ruining spacing for Zach in the paint. I know ET has been better this year buts its mainly because they’re force feeding the ball to him way too much. They need to quit that experiment in my mind, let seth be the guy who brings the ball up and gets the 2nd unit into their plays.

Why? You seriously think his 28% clip from inside the arc is who he is? He was a 50% 2pt shooter in 118 games before this year, so you dont think he'll regress to the mean in that area? Because his 2pt shooting is the only area where hes struggling right now.

Turner might be overpaid and a shooting liability, but his defense is generally good and he's still versatile enough to put up a 6/7/7 statline on a night like tonight, while Curry hasn't even sniffed a line like that.

Curry has basically just stood around all season and shown little playmaking ability or inclination to do anything besides spot up from the arc. Of course that is Turner's primary weakness. If you could combine the two of them you'd have a pretty good player, but that good player would be like 80% Turner and 20% Curry.

At this point, I'm fine benching Turner for anyone who can make a fucking free throw. I'm not, however, sure if that's Layman. Statistically, he's a pretty shitty FT shooter but the sample size is tiny.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Trent Jr. get a little burn. The guy doesn't seem to lack self-confidence and shot .876 FT% in college on a significant sample size (85 - 97). In addition to making FTs he's good at drawing them (based on college and summer league, anyway). Yeah, I get that he's a rookie and hasn't proven anything at this level, but I'd like to see him get a chance.

I go back to thats what Nik is on offense. He’s a run around screens and shoot 3’s guy who can drive if he’s over played. Seth is a PG, their kind of forcing a square peg in a round hole with seth.

For the record while some stats like Seth, I think overall his contribution has been dissapointing so I agree to that extent. I just believe its really hard to put that all on him, I think the way he’s being used makes no sense at all when considering who he has been as a player.

This team needs to make a trade. We are getting nothing from our forwards. Aminu, Harkless, and Turner aren't even playing well on defense to justify their offensive ineptitude. Harkless is the only one who has an excuse with working his way back from injury.

Portlands starting unit is a +25 (points minus opponent points) with Turner. That’s good for second on the team among lineups with at least 50 minutes (the number one lineup includes him as well.) With Layman they are a +2. With Harkless they’re in the negative.

Turner has been the first sub (for Layman or Mo) and has played with the other starters in the first quarter of every game this season, I believe. Him playing with Dame & CJ is nothing new.

He missed an entire season with an injury. His struggles might be rust, or they might be a long term loss of athleticism. At the risk of sounding like a cold-blooded bastard, I would rather invest in developing a player who might be here long-term rather than rehabing a guy who won't be.
