Time for Stotts to go? No chance if you ask the Trail Blazers players

I like the idea of Dame/CJ/Stotts like Malone/Stockton/Sloan playing their whole career with the same coach.

if its "no chance", then start playing better you fuckheads

The team has playing better ball last few games. I hope a run is coming with this tough schedule. It's time to step up and for Dame to lead us in this games.

I like Stotts as a person. As a coach, I think he's just OK.

He gives his players a lot of freedom - too much IMO.

I really wish he'd focus more on the basics & details. Not just getting 'good' at something, but perfecting it with exactness.

Focus on what's a good shot vs bad shot (I'm sure I don't agree with him here), how to make an entry pass, making a pass into a teammates shooting pocket instead of their feet....

My issue with Stotts is I don't see him demand the exactness & perfection of the 'little things'.

Stotts isn’t great but the roster is bad enough, and the players response could be bad enough, that it’s not worth firing him until he can show what he could do with the right guys. Closest the roster was to that we were a 50-55 win team.

Makes some changes to the roster then re-analyze.

May I ask why? Just to say they did it, or because you think those 3 can get us a championship?

why not? nobody thought Sheed would win a ring with those rag tag Pistons...not a star on the team in most fans views at the time...we're like a live volcano that hasn't erupted in several hundred years....anytime now!

I don't think this season is a good season to hang championship hopes on....couple more though....who knows?

So the way they have been playing is to save their coaches job?
Jesus, it's worse than I thought.

Par for the course under Lillard leadership - All hot air; the play of the players speaks for itself.

I dunno. Maybe I’m old school, but we have one of the youngest rosters in the league. We’ll never draw that star. Patience and development as a team will likely be worth more than the individual parts, like the late-80’s and early-90’s teams. We’re young. Let it grow together.

I think in another 5 years we'll still have the youngest team together. It will be Neil's go to excuse whenever people bring up the team's record. Around the league it will become like a in-joke. Just keep bringing in those former first round draft picks.

Playing AAU ball, we had the same roster for several instead of the hot collection of talent. We blew out WA State’s best AAU teams loaded with dudes that went on to play college ball because we were worth more as a team.

I think maybe 20 or maybe 15 years ago that kind of attitude would work. But the way the league operates now with premium talent moving from Superteam to Superteam.... There is just no place for the plucky underdog. Look at the Championship League in Soccer, Same 4 or 5 teams in the finals, almost every year. NBA is becoming a fixed horse race that sells a lot of designer brand shoes. I think if Dame ever makes a WCF he will have been an overachiever with this franchise.

It’s only changed cuz the mentality has changed. At my work, the drastic changes have shown quick results and failed in the long-term. I see it so often in sports. “Let’s go for a quick fix.” People are impatient and expect immediate results. Very obvious in the generations coming up. Expect everything to be easy and handed out.

I think things would change for Portland if they had a coach like Pops. If they had a coach with a proven system that needed archetype players who could fit a certain role.... not All Stars, we might win that way. Obviously Pops has all stars but he makes just as many journeyman players but into what he teaches. That kind of coaching would work here.

I just think it’s a square peg, round hole.

We just can’t be something we’re not. We’re not getting the stars. Pop wouldn’t be Pop here. So, even if you believe in the tiny chance a quick fix will work, we should be relying on what we can build: continuity. That’s probably the thing that has served this franchise the best over the years.

Well. I definately don't see anything changing anytime soon.
