If you ever listen to Nate, he knows and understands for this team to give itself a shot to win, it needs to "scrap". Deep down, I think he believes the "scrappin" will make up for any offensive defeciency this team has. Face it, this team blows on offense. If it doesn't have Brandon, they are terrible. They looked HORRRRRRRIBLE on friday night.

And to add to that, they really shouldn't. They are what, how many months into the season? 4? The offense should be running on all cylinders right now or close to it.

I agree with everyone that the talent has improved and that certainly does help.

I just find it amusing that the original post I was responding to throws out an extreme statement as the truth without any facts and justification behind it.

You say these things, but I'd like to see you name (and defend your selections) for better available coaches.

Everyone is quick to point out how something is less than perfect, but they never seem to have a well thought out solution to making it better.

It's only an opinion. I can have an opinion regarding the ability of a coach. Or if I think his style is garbage.

It's not my job to find a better coach. They pay Kevin Pritchard a lot of money to do that.

If they decided they wanted to pay me to do it, I'd start googling some assistant coaches resumes. Hell if they wanted me to coach I'm pretty sure I could call a time out and draw up an off balanced Steve Blake 3 point attempt with 1 second on the shot clock.

RIP SB

A team who has suffered tons of injuries to key players, is one game removed from their best player being out 5 weeks, just traded anyone some of their longest tenured players, and has had handful of different starting lineups, should be "running on all cylinders"?

When you say that out loud, does that sound like a realistic expectation?

Our offense is still one of the most efficient in the entire league, with all the injuries, with Roy out for so long, without the offensive rebounding that made the team #1 in offensive efficiency last year - we are still #6 in offensive efficiency this year). This is mind boggling good, and it goes against the entire "Nate must go", "The offense is stale" stuff.

The real fact is how many layups, or points in the paint do we allow every game that end up getting us down by 20 in the first quarter. Our defense must be so stifling that even we can't move to defend the basket. Nate is supposed to be Mr. Defense, please tell us where it's at?

Nate will never take this team to a championship, and you can take that to the bank!! :smiley-calista:

Before Oden went down - this team #2 in the entire league in defensive efficiency. I am not saying that Nate is the greatest or anything - but to blame him for a defensive rotation that features Howard or a just traded and with one practice Camby is just silly.

Maybe you are right, hard to tell. But, Nate is a much better coach than people give him credit here. (Not a problem for him to get credit from his peers, it seems).

We've been down 20 one time in the 1st quarter

Want to hear some facts?

The Blazers give up less pts in the paint then SA, Denver, OKC, Atl.

The Blazers are 13/30, meaning they're in the top half in the league in giving up pts in the paint, and they've been missing a real center for over 2 months.

Wow!

Repping this because it's THE TRUTH.
