<div class="quote_poster">nextlevelgame Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Well I think we all agree on that. I don't think everyone is banging on the 10-15 game win streaks we have had in the past, but rather 7-8 game winning streaks here and there. Every good team goes on win streaks, whether it's 5 to 15, and they do it regularly. We're only 7 games under .500. No need to totally break down and panic yet. Season is still relatively early.
How many seasons did they wallow at the bottom with Iverson? After a 49 win season and 29 games into thise season we should call it quits? That's just harsh. The trio deserves more than that. Jason Kidd deserves more than that.
That's an awefully optimistic view of the Knicks. What I see is a future of Frye and possibly Curry and a lot of bad parts. Marbury has picked up as of late, but I don't think they are a team to be worried about. The Celtics look good as well as Toronto, but I don't think anyone is penciling the Knicks as a future good to great team. Not with Nate Robinson, Jamal Crawford being there.
I wasn't aware we fell before. We went to the playoffs the last two seasons and we were beat out by the eventual champs last season. The future of the Nets is solid with Richard, Nenad, Marcus, Hasaan, and Boone. It's not great, but that's a core that can last us for another 5-8 seasons if need be.
Blowing up the Nets at this point just show weak will and ability. Yeah, we've been a disappointment so far, but we've been in this situation before and we've succeeded. We aren't a contender, and no one said we were going to be at the beginning of the season. We've been an inconsistent team for as long as Jason Kidd has been here, with spurts of being an unstoppable team. Hold out, give the trio a year to show what they are worth. If anything, Jason deserves that. He's earned it. He's been the franchise savior and deserves to retire a Net. It's still early in the season, we're only 2 games back of the Titanic division. We're going to be ok.</div>
If you're content on just making the playoffs, then yes, I agree keep the trio together. However, if the goal is to win a Championship, then the Nets need to break the trio up, because they are far from being a title contender. It's time to start over and get what you can to rebuild a championship team.
I bring up Iverson, because he's the classic example of teams holding on for too, long. They had settle for a lot less than what Iverson could have landed them 1 or 2 seasons ago.
The Knicks have some nice pieces on their roster, and the right coach could get this team right back into the post-season. Curry, Frye, Lee this is a solid frontcourt, and they'll add another talented player in the 2007 draft.
IMO the Nets should trade all three, Kidd, Carter, and Jefferson. Without Kidd, the Nets can't justify paying RJ franchise type money, because he's not a franchise caliber player.
