I got bored and made an iTunes playlist of my absolute favorite songs of All-Time, with a couple guidelines that I went by as well. 8 modern rock songs and 8 classic rock songs (it's pretty obvious to me which are modern and which aren't), and 1 song per band/artist. That's it. Here's the List (the list is in no particular order):

1. The Shins- New Slang
2. Led Zeppelin- That's The Way
3. Blind Melon- No Rain
4. John Frusciante- Unreachable
5. The Doobie Brothers- Black Water
6. Radiohead- High And Dry
7. Red Hot Chili Peppers- Breaking The Girl
8. Wilco- Jesus, Etc.
9. Green Day- Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)
10. Jimi Hendrix Experience- Hey Joe
11. The Beatles- Dear Prudence
12. Boston- More Than A Feeling
13. The Beach Boys- Feel Flows
14. Cream- Crossroads
15. John Mayer- Vultures
16. Simon And Garfunkel- America

"More than a Feeling" would made me bludgeon my head on something until I was unconsious.

Not really my sort of music, but some bands are pretty good. :) Nice list.

i like these songs, but nearly every band you have here has better songs. imo.

I was about to say something similar. I love a lot of these bands, but can think of much better songs in their catalogues (except for 'Hey Joe,' that kicks ass).

I actually hate RHCP, they've been consumed by their own collective ego.

And their music's shit.

Yeah, looking back on it, I would definitely do it differently if I made a list again today, although a lot of them would stay.

V.C. is my favorite Hendrix track so far. Not just cause of the poster that used to visit here, I just think it is amazing.
