I'll say it . . . I would like to see the Blazers get Tmac.

I'm not concerned about injuries as it will give time to Webster and Batum to develop during the season.

Tmac's experience could pay huge off huge during playoffs and he becomes a chip next year for anyone who want to enter the Lebron sweepstakes.

I would hope not. I stupidly drafted him in the fifth round of my most competitive fantasy league. He's been trash so far, and I was hoping that he could rebound later on in the season.

McGrady is taking two weeks off to condition himself. How sad is that?

My buddy did the same thing while I was giving him advice on who to pick. I told him no, he picked him anyway because he was thinking too much in terms of T-Mac's name value

*edited: No sexist slurs* is made of glass. He's on the fast decline. Of course, if he can get healthy he'd be a huge addition. What are the chances of that happening? not likely, IMO.

McGrady's a stud when healthy, but the problem is he's NEVER healthy for more than a few games at a time.

Just a note...comparing people to females, as a way to say that they're weak or inferior, is sexist and thus not allowed.

Well, maybe he could take his time to recuperate from his injury here and condition himself for the playoffs without pressure from the Houston media, Yao, or China. I like him as a player and would love to see him here if his most pressing intention is to win games. If it's for his own personal vendetta where he seeks vindication, then he wouldn't be a good fit.

I think it's complete bullshit if Yao is "tired of T-Mac not being able to play." What about when Yao was down with an injury and T-Mac was carrying the team?

If true I think Yao is a douche

Well, that could give a little more weight to any trade rumors involving TMAC, but that certainly wouldn't help his chances of coming here.

Wow...depending on th acquisition cost, I would take McGrady in a second...he would instantly help this team now....he has probably about 3-5 good years left in him, more than enough for guys like Webster and Batum to mature more and step into the starting role...he would be an awesome 3rd scoring option beside Roy & Aldridge and wouldn't necessarily need to log a ton of mimutes or be required to produce offensively like he is in Housten, and if he has to sit out a few games, POR has guys that can step in and start.....

It all depends on the acquisiton cost...but I can't believe what I am reading in this thread....McGrady does have some wear on his body...he does have some chronic injury concrens....but he is still only 29...is a great team player and still has the ability to take over games at key times....you pair him with Roy, Aldridge & Oden...then look out....

Sam Smith is a tool, but we should have hung onto Von Wafer. He's proving he can play in the NBA.

One of my major annoyances with McMillan is his inability to give unproven players a chance. Something coaches like Rick Adelman, Don Nelson, Jerry Sloan and Rick Carlisle are great at.

Didn't want to start a new thread about this, so thought I would stick it in here.

Wafer's been putting up some nice numbers lately, but I don't see where he'd get minutes on our team. But he can certainly play.

I would role the dice with TMac. We would give up one young talent and Raef. If he breaks down then we make sure we don't trade much so it hurts us too bad.It would take alot of players to match up. Raef, Frye and Diogu for filler plus someone they want or draft picks. They would clear a lot of salary.

T-Mac is a tragic figure in the NBA. He could have been amazing, and really was from time to time, but his heart never let him reach his potential. He did go to Orlando expecting to be Robin to Grant Hill's Batman. When that fell through, and the team was placed on his shoulders the weight of expectation crushed him.

I don't know what T-Mac's contract is. If it isn't too long, and Portland can get him for the same type of deal the Lakers did for Pau Gasol, then they should pull the trigger. He gets to come to Portland without the weight of the teams success on his shoulders. I would predict that he would have a small resurgence and help the team get out of the first round. If his contract is longer then two years, I don't think it would be a good idea.

20 million this year and 22 million next ... that's a pretty large pill to swallow if even for a season and a half -- talk about luxury tax hell with a high risk of no appreciable benefit.

That isn't remotely true. McGrady was fantastic in Orlando. The complete lack of talent around him meant not being able to get past the first round, but that was nothing to do with McGrady. His playoff numbers in Orlando were nothing short of amazing. Something like 30/6/6 over multiple series.

He suffered a back injury that sidelined him at the end of his final year in Orlando, and he was never quite the same player after that. He began a slow decline from there, and has dropped off a cliff now.
