Told you all Yi was going to be a star.

Y'all were dissing on Yi's numbers a few weeks ago, saying he was a bust and I explained that if we were to diss Yi, that we should diss Oden because they were both getting off to slow starts. People laughed at me when I explained that Yi was a budding star in this league. Tonight, he proves me right. In his first game back from injury, he dropped 22 points on the feisty Timberwolves. 7 of 12 shooting, 4 of 6 from three, and 8 rebounds to boot! Just wait until he gets comfortable. He'll dominate and be a perennial All Star!

I love being right.

No you love being a "what have you done for me lately" guy. Yi has had a good game here or there before. It doesn't make him good.

Was he good in all those games during his career that he didn't show up? Nope. Where were your post then?

So, one good (GOOD, not GREAT) game makes Yi a perennial All-Star in spite of 2+ years of total suckage? If only that were true, Tony Delk would be a 1st ballot Hall-of-Famer. After all, he once scored 53 points in a game on 20-27 shooting.

Your comparison to Oden is garbage. In 2+ seasons, Yi has been very UNPRODUCTIVE, when he's managed to be on the court. In 1+ season, Oden has been very PRODUCTIVE when he's been on the court. Oden has a career PER of 19.5, way above average and borderline All-Star. Yi's career PER is a very below average 11.2. FWIW, Tony Delk's career PER was 13.7. How many All-Star teams did he make?

Oden:
2008-09 PER = 18.1
2009-10 PER = 23.4

Yi:
2007-08 PER = 11.3
2008-09 PER = 10.9
2009-10 PER = 13.5*

Notice any differences?

* and that's for just five games, and is heavily influenced by that ONE good game that has you convinced he's now a perennial All-Star. So, even when one uncharacteristically good game counts for 20% of his PER, he's still below average.

In short, he's no Tony Delk.

If he ever makes an All-Star team it will be based entirely on the nationalistic pride of 1.6 billion Chinese causing them to stuff the ballot boxes, not because he deserves it based on his on-court play.

the nba rigs the allstar voting. if not, with the size of china, why wouldn't yi be a lock to start?

let's not count yi out. he's an 80% ft shooter and he raised his 3pt% to 34 last season. he's also tall and athletic. he needs to raise his offensive rebounding. he has a shot at becoming a productive jumpshooting big man like channing frye and jared dudley and during his prime years could help many nba teams. he also enjoys a robust reputation in international basketball.

Saying that won't make it true. Yi dominated tonight. Period. Calling him terrible is like the people outside this forum who call Oden a bust. It's ignorant.

I have to say that Oden has all the earmarks of a bust. We're all afraid to say it but it might be true. I hope it's not true. I really really hope it's not true. But so far, it doesn't look good.

Just say'n.

the has a shot at becoming a productive jumpshooting big man like channing frye...

If his upside is Channing Frye, there is little chance (outside of ballot box stuffing) he will ever become one-time All-Star, let alone a "perennial" one.

P.S. I like Channing, but he's NOT All-Star material.

I think that Yi is a write in, which makes it hard to be voted in. I'll have to go check the ballot and see if he is even on it.

I think they turned your character into a deranged lunatic to give you a hint. You might be the most reactionary fan in the history of sport.

You know, I would be embarrassed if I were all you guys. Kingspeed says obvious moronic opinions. There are several theories WHY he has moronic posts but I think we can all agree that they are beyond lame. So if newcomers check this place out they would think we are all the same ridiculous opinions of KS because his pathetic thread topics generate posts...like this one

notice mods...just bashing opinions

Oden has had a TON of games where he didn't show up. 2 pts & 0 rebounds, 4 pts & 2 rebounds, etc, etc, etc. Does that make Oden garbage?

No, because on average, Oden has been very productive. On average, Jianlian has been very unproductive.

Therein lies your difference.

But one talked about Yi's bad games. Oden has had bad game too. Many.

Look, I don't have to debate you all. Yi will be a star. That will be that. And there won't really be anything to say about it.

But one talked about Yi's bad games.

Yeah, because those bad games are the norm for him.

Oden has had bad game too. Many.

Not enough to make him generally unproductive. Clearly, his good games far outweigh his bad games.

Look, I don't have to debate you all.

No, you don't. Until Obama makes it mandatory that you debate us all.

Yi will be a star. That will be that. And there won't really be anything to say about it.

If that happens, that will certainly be that.

And if he continues to play like a scrub, that will be that, too.

Yahtzee!

Bookmarked

Yi might turn out to be a serviceable player. A perennial all star? Not likely.

Yi with 3 good games in a row now. Pretty promising run after the injury.

lolololol

we need a poll- who is more disruptive with their whacked out posts.

PapaG, or Kingspeed.

The Nets lost by 16 at home? Yi is putting up numbers on a bad team..
