Told you all Yi was going to be a star.

Yi is a year behind Dirk, no doubt. Like I said, he's a poor man's Dirk. Yes, the Nets suck, but does that mean Devin Harris and Brook Lopez suck? Would you want either player on the Blazers?

And in regards to your last statement, you clearly understand what I'm saying: that Yi, barring injury, will probably make the All Star team by three years from now.

The reason the Nets suck is because Yi has no help. He needs a fucking point guard and a decent center.

Yi is a year behind Dirk, no doubt.

Yi at 25 is over a year behind where Dirk was at 22. So, best case, Yi is 4 years behind Dirk. The problem is, Yi at 25, is likely much closer to his peak performance than Dirk was at 22.

So that means every player on the Nets is worthless individually?

No it doesn't mean anything of the kind. By what convoluted logic do you come to this conclusion?

You do understand there is a very wide range of possibilities between "star" and "worthless". They could be good, above average, average, below average or bad - which would make them neither stars nor worthless. Truth be told, the Nest have zero stars, very few above average players, a lot of below average players, and several who basically are worthless. Nearly half the players on their roster have single digit PERs.

Lopez has a PER of 20.6 and is only 21. He's considerably better than Yi already and four years younger.

Harris has been injured and isn't playing nearly as well this year as last, but I wouldn't (and didn't) call him worthless.

pwned indeed

indeed

The reason the Nest suck is their second best player is barely above average.

I go back to the Dirk comparison - by his third season, Dirk was the best player on a very good team (that included two future MVPs), with a PER of 22.8.

Yi is basically slightly above average on a team loaded with very below average players.

While Lopez, Yi and Harris don't suck, they aren't nearly good enough to carry a roster full of scrubs - as indicated by their historically bad record.

I'm a bit confused:

Yes, I probably would.

Devin Harris, PG and Brook Lopez, C...who don't suck...aren't enough? I'd surmise that starting PG and C are the two places where the Nets are ok. :dunno:

for all the blah in this thread yi's last 5 games...

20.6ppg/6.8rpg/1.6blocks/1.6steals/39 free throws

Last 5 games:

8.2ppg / 5.2rpg / 1 blockpg / 0.2 stealspg / 13 free throws

He's adjusting to his new role on the team. They keep changing the "way we want to play" and Yi can't get comfortable out there. If he was on New York, he'd be averaging 25/9/2. I guarantee it.

No, Yi sucks.

A guarantee from you, plus 5 bucks, might get you a coffee at 7-11.

If you or I were on New York, we'd be averaging 25/9/2. It's the nature of the system. That doesn't tell us much about Yi.

Yi Jianlian: Yi Jianlian awful again in Tuesday's loss

The Nets fell on Tuesday, partly because Yi Jianlian had just six points, two rebounds and three turnovers in 36 minutes.
Yi is going through a horrendous stretch in the past 10 games, averaging 8.9 points on 34% shooting. He's turning the ball over just once per game, nice in nine-cat leagues, but he also has just two steals in all of February. Use him with extreme caution, or not at all.

Since in his best year for the Guangdong Southern Tigers he averaged 24.9/11.5, I doubt his averages in the NBA would equal that level of production, but since you GuaranSheed it, I believe you!

Yi has finally fulfilled his vast potential.

I foresee a short peak, but it was glorious.

Yi tonight:

20 pts & 19 rebounds, fuckers!!

Good game by Yi.

Nice to see his 1st double double since January. If he can continue he might manage to keep himself out of the Chinese leagues for a couple years.

His 7-17 shooting was way more efficient than Harris's 7-24, too... He was 6-8 for free throws. Also, while it's nice to see him rebounding...it helps a little bit when your team shoots 35% and 21% from 3pt.

Yi - All-Star bound!

Yi had 12 offensive rebounds. Is that an NBA record for this season?
