The Blazers are a private business, and have the right to conduct their business in private. They have no legal obligation to tell the press, or us, anything.

OTOH, they should consider whether it would be better for the team to just come out and tell what happened and put an end to the speculation.

Yes, good point. People can get fired on the spot for all sorts of reasons -- insubordination, dishonesty, a blown deal, inappropriate actions, and more, and less, you name it.

That's the point - and the Brian Smith article seems to bear this out - it was some isolated incident, not a feud.

I'm hearing that Penn was fired for bring a hand gun on to Blazer property. I guess it was completely unintentional but it was the 2nd time he's made that mistake. After the first time he was told if he did it again it he would be immediately terminated.

I'd also like to know if this is serious and what source..... After reading today's interview with Larry Miller, sounds like it had to be something like that. He says it was not about Minnesota, not about Clippers, not a human resource issue (although wouldn't carrying a gun to work be human resource?) and not a personal confrontation with someone in the organization. That doesn't leave many explanations for letting someone go who they will apparently have to pay for the next two years. Sleeping with someone's wife in the organization; seems like that would have led to a personal confrontation, so that doesn't seem to fit. Maybe Dwight James is right, we will just never know.

After reading all of the speculation by "the experts" I do believe that it is most likely that this or something very similar to it is the reason behind Penn being fired. It's not a warning shot to KP but most likely Penn just shooting himself in the foot.

As you previously posted, perhaps Pritchard is fed up with the Vulcan bullshit and didn't care if his agent expressed his displeasure. I'm sure Pritchard wasn't thrilled with taking the public heat for an email that Larry Miller/Vulcan sent Memphis, whining about how they were going to sue the Grizz for daring to sign Darius Miles and play him 10 games. A bunch of number crunchers trying to run an NBA team. It's comical. Vulcan seemingly can't get out of their own way.
