Larry Brown is the only coach in NBA history to have led seven teams to the playoffs, so when the Knicks made him the league's highest-paid coach ever, they expected him to lead a talented roster into the postseason. Instead, the Knicks went south in a hurry, finishing with 23 wins, their third-worst total in franchise history. The team was a public relations nightmare: Brown and a number of his players, notably point guard Stephon Marbury, jabbed back and forth through the media. A horrible season emphasized the squad's disarray; Brown's fickle playing-time tactics, such as 42 different starting lineups, were definitely part of the cause.

Fate: Due to his horrendous performance during his initial season with the team, Larry Brown was fired and replaced by Isiah Thomas during the Knicks' 2006 off-season.</div>

I still think that they should have kept Brown 1 more year. Let him root out who he wants and doesn't want and then see whats up.

I'll put it this way, I'd rather have Larry Brown running the team instead of Isiah Thomas.

LB didn't do such a stellar job last year. Regardless, his coaching style does not fit the Knicks' build, so I don't see how Isiah's coaching could be worse for the Knicks.

LB did not get any help from Isiah but neither he helped hoimself in any way.
Unless Isiah was going to give him players LB would feel comfortable with then the alternative was to fire him which is exactly what Isiahs ego told him to do. Go figure, now he is getting LB type players to play for him ( Collins, Balkman)
