Not a bad balance of positions. In terms of quality though, that is going to be relative to some other clubs. I'm just not up to speed on the overall talent across the minors.

...depends on the source I suppose...and also depends on what one considers each team's actual needs are compared to what they have on the farm.

^^^^^^true. And I've often wondered if the pundits unreasonably downplayed our trade chips. It would seem to me the data is out there. If you looked at each 25 man roster, all 750 guys....where did they begin their pro careers.

...yup, don't know what the actual % is but I bet it's way less than 1/2. And I don't get the people who place so much value on "giving a draft pick" when signing most FAs...I mean seriously, how can someone put such a high premium on a future draft pick who may or may not 3-4-5 years down the road as opposed to acquiring a top notch FA who is already a proven stud and who can help you now ?

The odds of winning the Mike Trout, Giancarlo Stanton lottery, and the cost of waiting to win that lottery.

Sox, Giants, Cardinals all followed the Yankee model......core nucleus and plug n play FA's. This is where Cashman failed....doesn't know how to construct/evolve a nucleus.
