The Austin Toros today announced they have signed small forward Ryan Ayers. Ayers will join the team this week and travel to Bakersfield for back-to-back games against the Jam starting Friday.
Ayers (6-7, 210, Notre Dame) most recent professional play was in France with Orleans Loiret Basket, where in seven games this season he averaged 4.3 points and 1.3 rebounds in 15.4 minutes. In 2011-12, Ayers started 38 of 40 games with Boulazac Basket Dordogne averaging 11 points and 2.6 rebounds in 29.7 minutes. In 2009-10, Ayers played 50 games with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (NBA D-League) where he averaged 9.7 points and 3.5 rebounds in 27.8 minutes.
Ayers started 33 of 36 games played his senior year at Notre Dame. He was honored with the Notre Dame Best Defensive Player Award and named to the Big East Academic All-Star Team.
