Vegas fired Cassidy and hired Torts as their new coach. If this isn't a typical NHL panic overreaction move, I don't know what is. With only 8 games remaining in the season, you fire the coach who won the SC for you a few years back, to bring in a guy who has coached many different teams, with varying degrees of success. The NHL is a panic overreaction league when it comes to coaches.
I somewhat get the thinking on Torts, he is usually good for a short-term bump until his caustic personality wears on the players and they tune him out, but this is a bit much given Cassidy's track record. Maybe it will work for them in the short-term this season, we'll see.
