CJ is just as good as Love. So why the hell would we do that? Love is 29 while CJ is only 26. What does swapping CJ for Love do? We don't get better. Our defense stays the same as both are poor defenders. Our offense stays the same as well, and probably gets worse as CJ is a better scorer than Love. Rebounding isn't a problem.

Trade Nurk for DeAndre?! DeAndre would leave after this year, or we'd have to pay him $30M a season for the next 4 years to bring him back (in 2 years he will be an average NBA C as athleticism is the first thing to go. He's already declining.) 2 years from now, Nurk will be better.

That team is not a true contender at all. That team isn't better than we are now and the future looks much, much bleaker. So many shortsighted trade ideas lately that are coming from an obvious place of fans wanting moves to be made.

Love is an All-Star stretch 4, and in his prime, with championship experience ... CJ is an undersized ISO ball SG, that doesn’t pass, and is not a good fit next to Dame. And your assumption DeAndre wouldn’t resign has no basis. Would make us arguably best rebounding team in league and Dame can shine.

So you are more concerned with Paul Allen’s tax savings than deals to make this team a contender... Or wait, do you think this team is a contender as is because of a few recent wins? Prime age is 28. Love is past his prime.
Love has championship experience with LeBron. Winning a championship with LeBron doesn't apply to him playing here. Championship experience also doesn't apply unless we could get deep in the playoffs. This team already has playoff experience. Love getting carried to a ring by LeBron doesn't help us.
CJ McCollum gets twice as many assists per game than Love does.
Love is an even worse defender than McCollum, and interior defense is more important than perimeter defense.
You realize we're not going to win a ring in the next two years, right? And getting Kevin Love doesn't make us much better, if at all. It doesn't take us to the next level.

Resigning DeAndre is just as bad. The dude's already overrated and hasn't been any better than Nurk on defense this season and is regressing while Nurk is still 23. You want to resign DeAndre for 4 years, $100M? No thanks. He's going to have a Dwight Howard type of regression and he's going to be average in 1-2 years. He's already overrated as it is. Both options are bad.

DJ can do one thing offensively, catch lobs.
He doesn't put the ball on the floor, because when he does it's a turnover.
Turner can't throw a rock in the ocean from outside of 15ft.
Aminu is as likely to go 10-10 from deep as he is to go 0-10.

Love is the only other proven true shooter outside of Lillard in your lineup.

You're right it's not rocket science. Teams would completely leave Turner & DJ to double Lillard. And while Lillard is good, it's a proven thing in the NBA as 1 person creating for everyone does not equal a championship.
Look at LBJ. Best player in the world and still can't do it by himself.
Look at Westbrick. Puts up huge numbers and couldn't get out of the first round last year.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that having 2 shooters on the floor, 2 non shooters and an inconsistent player is a team that is first round exit bound.

Of course he had ups and downs during that year but Pat-C, could bring half the production of CJ at 30% of the cost. Let's say Connaughton is paid 7,5M a year in his new deal. That make our cap management way easier.

And Pat-C is a SG in a SG body with his 6'5'' height. Nothing against CJ. I absolutely love the guy. But if we are able to trade him for a massive upgrade somewhere else (SF or C?) the downgrade CJ -> Pat may be worth it.

CJ stretches the floor more than Kevin Love. You replace CJ with Love. So how the hell does that help spread the floor more?

DeAndre will make more shots on the pick n roll than Nurk, but will also get fouled more because he's such a god awful FT shooter, and that's not a good thing.

Pat-C is effectively 6'4 due to his short wingspan, and is just as bad of a defender as CJ. I don't understand what the obsession is over height at the SG position, all that matters in regards to defense is defense, not size. Would people not like Avery Bradley on this team?

And if you are waiting for Warriors to fall off you will be waiting a long time... definitely more than 2 years. Lillard is in his prime, so if you want to win with Lillard you go for it now and try to beat Warriors... don’t be a coward and say wait for Warriors run to end. Or else trade Dame and get lottery picks that might actually help rebuild 5 years down the road. If you want to keep Dame with team as is and wait out the Warriors then you are on a 10 year plan... no thanks.

Lowe and Windhorst talked about possibility of a CJ for Love + picks deal but said Blazers wouldn't be interested. Lowe suggested a Frye for Harkless with some 2nd round picks exchange but Windhorst says Frye will end up in Sac, for sure.

Considering what it’d take to get Love I’d rather just let Collins play. He can shoot too, and actually plays defense. Yeah Love is better right now, but next season Collins should be ready for a prime role and we’d be stuck with a depreciating asset no one would want.

Oh and Love is only under contract for two more seasons.

Yeah that is the key for me as well. I am OK with Nurk at center (although he needs to get better-and I think he will) I am good with Collins as the PF of the future, and I happy with Dame and CJ at guards.

So anyone else can be traded IMO if it brings back a quality starting SF. But don't include the first round pick unless that SF they get back is a lot better than someone like Hood. (Whom I don't mind trading for, but not with the pick)
