Ok Your assessment of the team seems to differ from mine at least in Semantics. I think we have a super star in Dame. An Above Average to Good Starting SG. A very solid Center with Promise. Then we have a few young wild cards, Id put Zach, Trent, Simons and Layman in that group. A few guys who are decent role / bench players Moe, Aminu, Meyers, Seth, I guess ET is in this group.
The Hood pickup well I think he fits in nicely with the role / bench player group, and Skal Im not sure where he fits if at all.
The problem the Blazers have is they really need starting quality / consistent Forwards they could be “role players” but they have to be fairly consistent on both sides of the ball.
Currently constructed the Blazers only real hope is that Zach and Layman turn into those guys, Im sorry but I think for Aminu and Moe that ship has sailed, their both good at times and could have a role on good teams but the Blazers need more out of their forwards than either of them can consistently give. When I say hope I mean championship aspirations.
I agree with your conclusion lets trade all that role player / depth for a star or at the least a consistently good legit starter, I just dont think that deal was actually going to happen, the only guys that fit that mold that were moved were Harris and Mirotic - They didnt have what it took to get Harris, I am sort of surprised they didnt go after Mirotic harder.
I think why I am not terribly upset about the trade deadline stuff is that what happened for the Blazers is about what I expected.
I wanted AD (of course who didnt), I just knew that deal wasnt going to happen.
