Decided that a Trade Deadline Thread was applicable for one of my favorite 24 hours of the year. I will try to update the OP as soon as I can with either Completed Trades, or Almost Complete trades. Follow along, it will be a fun night/day....

Blazers - Clips
To Blazers: Marcus Camby
To Clips: Travis Outlaw, Steve Blake, $1.5mil Cash Flow
Notes

The injury-plagued Blazers receive some needed frontcourt help in Camby, who was unhappy with his role in L.A. and should help the Blazers immediately in their playoff push. The Clips get a solid backup for Baron Davis (Blake) and help at small forward (Outlaw). To make room on the roster, the Clippers waived Ricky Davis.

Wizards - Mavs
To Wizards: Josh Howard, Drew Gooden, James Singleton, Quinton Ross
To Mavs: Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood, DeShawn Stevenson

The Mavs' acquisition of two-time All-Star Caron Butler instantly upgrades them at small forward where injuries hampered Josh Howard all season. Haywood gives the Mavs an experienced body in the middle. For the Wizards, the trade is yet another step forward in turning the page on a tumultuous season that started with a poor early record and culminated with Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton being suspended for the year. The 2010-11 season starts now in D.C.

Looking to bolster their front line and try to make a run at an NBA championship, the Cavaliers acquired Antawn Jamison from the Wizards. Jamison, who had been with the Wizards since 2004, is averaging 20.5 points this season. Jamison, an All-Star in both 2005 and 2008, has a career average of 19.9 points. Cleveland had reportedly been involved in trade talks with Phoenix for Amar'e Stoudemire before pulling the trigger on a deal for Jamison.

Rockets - Kings - Knicks
To Rockets: Kevin Martin and Hilton Armstrong from Kings and Jordan Hill and Jared Jeffries from Knicks
To Kings: Carl Landry and Joey Dorsey from Houston and Larry Hughes from Knicks
To Knicks: Tracy McGrady, Sergio Rodriguez

This deal finally makes New York a player in the coming summer free agent bonanza as they save $2.5 million in cap space by unloading Hill, $6.8 million by trading Jeffries and now own T-Mac's $23 million expiring contract. They can now make a run at LeBron, D-Wade, Chris Bosh or Joe Johnson. Kevin Martin became expendable to the Kings with the solid play of rookie Tyreke Evans and Martin gives the Rockets a scoring option that they desperately need. That Houston acquired Martin for some role players and a player (McGrady) who wasn't even on the active roster is just a bonus.

Celtics - Knicks
To Boston: Nate Robinson, Marcus Landry
To New York: Eddie House, J.R. Giddens, Bill Walker

Nate Robinson comes out a winner in this deal as he joins the team that leads the Atlantic Division and is almost guaranteed a trip to the playoffs. Did we mention that he has a clause in his contract that pays an extra $1 million for a playoff appearance? Robinson, for the win! Eddie House finds comfort in being reunited with D'Antoni, who he played for in Phoenix. By dealing Robinson, the Knicks removed $6.9 million from next season's payroll and cleared room for possibly two maximum-salary free agents in the Summer of 2010.

Bulls - Bobcats
To Bulls: Ronald "Flip" Murray, Acie Law and future first-round draft pick from Charlotte
To Bobcats: Tyrus Thomas

Dealing Thomas clears off even more money from the books. D-Wade, LeBron et. al can expect a phone call from the Windy City come July 1. For the Bobcats, adding Thomas gives them another front court presence as they try to hang on in the East playoff race.

Bulls - Bucks
To Bulls: Hakim Warrick and Joe Alexander
To Bucks: John Salmons, Bulls' 2011 & 2012 second round picks and option to switch 2010 first round picks (provided Chicago is between No. 11 & No. 30)

This is a deal for the offseason, giving Chicago the cap flexibility to make a major splash in the historic upcoming free agent class. Salmons had a player option for 2010-11 and the trade allows the Bulls to clear his contract off the books (Warrick and Alexander both have expiring contracts). In Salmons, the Bucks get a streaky shooter who when his shot is on, can help the Bucks sneak into the playoffs. Milwaukee is currently two games out of the eighth spot.
The latest on the Salmons trade has Warrick and Alexander going back to Chicago, not Thomas and Elson. This is courtesy of Gery Woelfel of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Theo Ratliff is returning to familiar coaching schemes under coach Larry Brown, who he played for back in Philadelphia. Ratliff is a veteran on the slower side, but still steps up defensively, which coach Brown appreciates. With Ratliff gone, rookie DeJuan Blair should see more playing time in San Antonio.

Jazz - Grizz
To Jazz: Future first-round pick from Memphis
To Grizz: Ronnie Brewer

Ronnie Brewer was just an unfortunate victim of the trade deadline. There were plenty of folks on the Jazz who played his position (Kyle Korver, C.J. Miles, and Wesley Matthews) and someone had to go to give adequate minutes to everyone. Brewer will provide a defensive presence on the perimeter for the Grizzlies.

Bucks - Sixers
To Bucks: Primoz Brezec, Royal Ivey and Sixers' 2010 second-round pick
To Sixers: Francisco Elson, Jodie Meeks

The Sixers are getting a late draft-day gift in Jodie Meeks, who they wanted this past summer. Meeks, a big-time scorer at Kentucky, could fill the roster gap that the Sixers need. Philly is looking to go back into the playoffs and Meeks' talent off the bench could help. Royal Ivey will be looking at his second go-around in Milwaukee, where he played a career-high 75 games with 20 starts during the 2007-08 seasons.

Knicks - Timberwolves
To Knicks: Brian Cardinal
To Timberwolves: Darko Milicic, Cash

The two sparingly-used players switch teams, but neither will likely see a huge jump in playing time in their new locales. The Knicks dealt Milicic to free up salary cap room for any other deals before the deadline. Minnesota made the deal to get cash back from New York and to spare itself of a decent-sized contract, too. Milicic, the No. 2 overall pick of the 2003 Draft, will be heading to his fifth team. Cardinal, who was often praised by Wolves coach Kurt Rambis for his help with the team's youthful roster, is headed to his sixth team.

Well, the Richard Jefferson to the Spurs experiment seems to have fizzled out. Officially. Everyone pretty much knew it was dead a couple months ago. But now we have proof.

Displeased with the way he has fit into their system, the San Antonio Spurs are attempting to trade forward Richard Jefferson just days before the trade deadline, multiple league sources have confirmed.

However, because of Jefferson's lack of production this season, as well as his $14.2 million salary, it does not seem likely the Spurs are going to find any takers.


Really? Nobody wants to take on $15 million in salary next year for a guy whose production dropped dramatically this year? Couldn't have seen that coming.

Jefferson's shooting percentage numbers are pretty similar to last year (except from three, which dropped from 39.7% to 35.4%). What has dropped are his shot attempts (especially at the rim) as he has struggled to find his way fitting in with Tony Parker, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili. Jefferson is giving the Spurs 14 points a game, but he is using 11.5 shots to get that.

General manager R.C. Buford did roll the dice on this one, giving up Frabrico Oberto, Kurt Thomas and Bruce Bowen to get Jefferson. But he had to do something -- the Spurs as constructed were not going to beat the Nuggets, let alone the Lakers, in the playoffs. They needed to do something to open the championship window again. On paper Jefferson seemed a good idea.

In practice, the Spurs are wasting a throwback year from Duncan. And no move at the deadline is likely to change that.

Yea I guess it would have to be a money saving offer, but the guy has to also consider the backlash if he pulled that move. At that point they might as well melt down to ground zero, let Nash go to a contender so he can try for a ring, and start over.

yeah, that would suck for Nash...you hear all this about Amare yet not one trade rumor about Nash....he is on contract for 2 more years at 10 and 11 million. I think thats reasonable for a player of his caliber.....hmmmm.....wonder if the Lakers came to the same conclusion and are doing something we dont know about

Wow really, where did you see/hear that? Are they looking to get a PG for him or something, because what they have in depth behind him in Memphis (Tinsley, Marcus Williams) really isn't that impressive. Combined with the fact that the team is very improved this year, and you have to wonder what is going on.
