Jost blows. Av's fans can't wait to dump his dumbass. Very disappointed in Kreider if he won't take around 6 years, 36 million. Gimme a break. He's a good player. That's more than enough. He needs to set his agent straight. He could be part of a very dominant team for a long time here. Guess he doesn't care if what is being reported is true. However, consider the sources.
 
Hah. This nothing but an example of selective leaking by JG. Brooks hasn’t had legitimate sources in years. He breaks nothing anymore (we are not signing Shattenkirk, we are not trading Stepan, etc.). Just a few days ago he’s reporting that we want to sign him, and now they let leak to him that since he wont accept what they are offering, he’s going to be dealt. Aka this is JG making a last ditch attempt to get Kreider to give, because they truly do want to keep him. Think about it. Kreider has seen Callahan traded, Hayes traded and Zucc traded when their deals were expiring and their asks were too high. He knows JG will send him out of town in a second if he doesn’t accept the offer on the table. If JG didn’t want him to stay his ass would have been gone already.

The dynamic has always been that if Kreider doesn’t accept on our terms, he’s gone. That hasn’t changed. All this does is remind Kreider the clock is ticking and the wheels are in motion on the backup plan.

Hilarious to see the air of self importance in Brook’s article like he has some hot scoop, but in reality he’s being completely used.

As for the substance of it - I really hope Kreider remembers Callahan. He got traded out of here and watched us make the cup. Take the deal Kreids.
 
Not just Brooks though, it's the guys on TSN also, Dreger reported it before Brooks. With that said there is still hope that Kreider wakes up tomorrow and says okay Gorton is not going to move so I'll take 6 for 36 to 39 or so +/- and stay a Ranger. That is a very fair offer for him.

Twitter reports are saying rangers are in the process of sending hank to Colorado!!
 
I have not seen that on twitter of any reporters or on any sites. Maybe it was some random fan, because I cannot find that anywhere.
 
Unfortunately when you have senile dumbass GM's like Lou giving Lee 7 years, 49 million and those assclowns running the Flyers giving Hayes his contract, all players want to be paid like stars. Gorton and JD won't be bullied that much I know.
 
I agree with that 100%. The Hayes contract was a joke, and it hurts negotiations with other players for all teams. He was worth no where near over 7 mill per, but he got it.


Unless Chris Kreider agrees to the 6 year offer at around 6.5M on the table he will be traded. Darren Dreger said that there is an offer on the table but you can expect there to be more once Gorton phones teams to say he’s trading him.
 
I wish hockey players would get paid more than pathetic baseball players but it won't ever happen for many reasons. That being said, GM's need to make a correction with non star players like baseball did. To many non star players are getting paid 5.5 to 8 million. Gorton did it with Trouba. It's gotta stop unless they are going to raise the cap 20 million. Just not enough room when you hand out contracts like those to guys who aren't franchise changing players.
 
It would also help if the shitheads in our fan base stop blaming the defenseman every second of the season for everything that goes wrong. Staal has been one of the more steady d guys we have had this season. Other fan bases think the guy is an AHL player listening to the dumb bastards in our fan base. While not having Trouba on d would create a major size problem on the right side. I sure would love to get out of that 8 million a year contract. Even if it makes the team look bad signing him and then dealing him right away. If I had my choice, trading Trouba, Skjei and Hank would be my moves.

Losing mentality.
Don't you realize there are plenty of other teams that will either continue to be better and/or also improve along with the Rangers? Just because the Rangers, in your opinion, window for success starts to open (it already is), what makes you think the Rangers will be in a BETTER position without Kreider?! I can guarantee that whatever assets they get back be it draft pick(s)/prospects/roster player it will be YEARS before they have the chance to be as good or better than Kreider.

Trouba is a 7 mill per player given his position, his size and skillset, and the fact that he's a R shot. So yeah I do think he is overpaid by 750 K let's say, but he filled a HUGE need, so I understand why we gave him a little extra to fill that need and lock him down. We also got Panarin on a great deal, and Ziban is also on a great deal. You could also argue that despite the knocks, Skjei's cap # is very reasonable as well.

When you look forward to the kids coming due the next 2 or 3 years, I think that is why we cannot overpay Kreider in the 7's. I'm sorry, but if the offer from Gorton is 6 years 36/39 mill (6 tp 6.5 cap hit), that is very fair for what Kreider is. If he wants more, while I respect his right to ask for it, I think he is being greedy if he truly wants to be a Ranger.

Now he'll get it if he hits free agency this summer, just like Hayes did, but that doesn't mean he isn't being greedy if he truly wanted to stay a Ranger. Maybe he'll get 6 for 44 or 7 for 49. I think he'll get something like that, but playing in NY adds value also, I guess not enough for him to take 36 to 39 mill though.
 
The Rangers will be better off not paying Kreider 750 K or more than he is worth. That is how they'll be better. If Kreider was reasonable and took 6.3 per over 6 years, he'd be a Ranger past today. He wants to break the bank, good for him and his right to do so (he'll get it as well I'm sure), but that doesn't mean it is smart for us to do it.

I also don't think being honest is a losing mentality. Our playoff chances are 30% at best currently - FACT. We would most likely play Boston in round 1 IF we get in - FACT. Boston is a big powerful team, the best in the NHL record and points wise - FACT. We would be huge underdogs against them in round 1 - FACT.

Those are all facts. Doesn't mean we cannot beat them, just means the odds are not in our favor, and we should not make decisions as if we have a great shot to make the playoffs and advance if we do get in.

As for our window, this was supposed to be another building year. We are ahead of that curve, which is great, but with all the kids growing and learning and still yet to be here, we really enter that big window next year and the year after. I don't want to jeopardize that to keep Kreider and lose him for nothing this summer, or overpay him to maybe slip in and lose in round 1 most likely if we do.
 
JD press conference at 11 and rangers practice moved back to 11:30. HMMMMM
 
Trocheck traded to the Canes, for nothing impactful now. Isles get JGP for picks (2 or 3 of them - a 1st & 2nd this year - and a conditional 3rd in 2022). Another reason we need to be smart. Our two biggest competitors for the playoffs got clearly better, and the Canes looking for a dman still.

Gorton/JD need to be smart and real.

JD going to speak around 11:15-11:30. Maybe Kreider extension or something with Hank?
 
My mind immediately went to Hank. Not sure anything else would necessitate a press conference before the move is announced. Usually JG gives a briefing after the deadline. Hell we moved two captains at the deadline in the past few years and neither of them were announced live at a presser.

Does anyone have a stream?
 
Has to be something impactful, otherwise why would JD speak and not Gorton? Maybe Hank??? He cannot be happy right now.
 
MSG will probably cut into programming live if it's some big thing.

Sounds like on MSG at 11:15. Has to be Hank (retiring?). Cannot see JD speaking to say we are dealing or keeping Kreider. That seems like a Gorton job to me.
 
Wow the Isles seemingly gave up alot for Pageau. He'll help but i don't know about a 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
 
3rd is in 2022 if the Isles win the cup this season, so most likely no 3rd. 1st and 2nd this year for him. A lot, but he is good, and just read they are talking extension already. Almost have to if you give up a 1st and a 2nd for him.
 
Maybe something crazy like both Kreider and HL to Colorado?
 
Kreider signed for 7y, but Buch and Shest in a car accident and thankfully both ok. Shest has a fractured rib and is out at least a few weeks. Wow.
