Henrique to the Oilers for their 2023 first-round pick and a 2025 conditional fifth-round pick to Anaheim, one that becomes a fourth-rounder if the Oilers win the Stanley Cup this season. The Oilers also received a 7th-round pick from the Ducks.

Yeah, I didnt have him on my list of targets for the Rangers...He seems to me to be the type of player who would show up for the Rangers and do absolutely nothing for them. Im sure my opinion of him is tainted by his prior Devils association...
 
Prices are absurd. Thus why I said Jones for a guy like Sturm to give Jones a chance to play. Eberle which shouldn't cost more than a 3rd and a middle of the road prospect. Tarasenko to me is a player that needs to be the focal point of his line. Not what the Rangers need. They need some guy to quietly fit in with dipshit Zibanejad. Tarasenko's price was cheap but there is baggage with him. I still think Berard is going to get the call.
 
Glad Henrique gone too… he scored a lot on us , doesn’t mean he’d score for us ..

Prices are not absurd; they are normal for the trade DL. Do people think this is abnormal? This is BAU, and Henrique going for a 1st is not crazy. Tarasenko was a steal IMO with no 1st and no 2nd in the deal. We'll see what Drury does, but other teams will get better, and already have started to, and either Drury needs to improve the team clearly, or sell.
 
Tarasenkos family is in Florida so I guess that was a big factor in the deal.
 
Tarasenko publicly said he felt the panthers were his best chance of winning, so let’s assume he felt the same when he came to us..

That’s a plus for us
 
I feel like Drury is the Rangers version of Cashman. Thinks he’s the smartest man in the room and will sit around and trade for trash and think it’ll be a difference or will trade away the future for an over the hill player. Let’s see if he proves me right or wrong.

Tarasenko wasn’t the problem last year. When we got him initially he was a GREAT piece. Then the moron Drury traded for an injured Kane and THAT is what fucked this team up. I said when the trade happened it was unnecessary and wouldn’t help but certain posters said that if Kane wants to be here you take him. That’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard in my life still. Kane played the Rangers and made us a worse team. Still hate that trade. We were such a better team without Kane.

Let me ask a question here. Seeing a lot of love for Guentzel, both here and elsewhere. Are we sure Guentzel is the right fit? He is a left shot that has never played RW. He has skated his entire career with Crosby who plays a cycle game. Mika and Kreider stopped playing that game years ago. He is not a big guy. He will not have Crosby creating space for him.

I do love Guentzel's game overall. Good skater, great shot, a pure goal scorer. But given what it will cost it is a gamble for it to work and I am not sure he is the right guy.

If the 1st rounder is burning a hole in Drury's pocket, out of the guys rumored to be available I would rather bring back Buch. Experience playing the right side and with Mika and Kreider. We get him for another year. Easier to acclimate in a shorter amount of time. Seems like the better approach than a 1 year rental on a good player but questionable fit.

There are other guys out there too that would be cheaper (i.e., this year's Vatrano for a 4th). Zucker in AZ plays a hard game and can skate and score. Duclair can be a compliment on that line. Lots of options. Let's not let the big name blind us to the better moves.

Please do not trade a 1st for Vatrano. That goal total is misleading. He is the guy in ANH. 11 power play goals. He will have zero here.
 
Based on what I have read late yesterday/last evening, I don't think Guentzel will be the guy. I believe it will be Buch or Vatrano. Who knows for sure, but that's the tea leaves I see. And what I do like about adding one of those guys is both are signed for next season. That is a plus, so it isn't a rental for our 1st round pick. And while I do agree a 1st is a bit much for Vatrano, at least we'd have him for next season, he has fit in well with Kreider and Zibanejad before, and he is a shoot first guy, which we have very few of. So, I won't be upset if he is added, even if I would prefer Buch. I do acknowledge though, that adding Vatrano, who was a small piece added two years ago, as our big fish this year is a little bit of a letdown. I can see that given the type of player Vatrano is.

I also think a guy like Zucker would be a very nice addition for some grit in the bottom 6. I just don't see how we can afford him, and a RW unless we are able to move a guy like Goodrow.
 
I'd only be ok with Guentzel if they knew for certain he'd be signing an extension to stay beyond this year. I don't imagine that will be the case though.
 
I don't think it's pasta. Some grammatical similarities but he would've reintroduced himself a little more I think if it really was him.
 
Heard the dumb fuck Ducks wanted Kakko and a first for Vatrano and Henrique. That's why they suck year after year after year. Because they are dumb. If they had any clue they should have traded those 2 to the Rangers for Garand, the 2 and the 4 they gave up for Wennberg and a prospect like Chmelar. They don't have dick in net for the future there. Garand to me will be a solid, starting, NHL goalie.
 
If the Rangers at this point will part with a Garand and perhaps a Berard. I'd rather go for Buchnevich. At least I know he can play with those two impossible shitheads at even strength where nobody else seems to be able to do that.
 
Seems like any goalie that comes up through the Rangers system and works with BA will turn into a solid starter in the NHL.
 
Exactly. However, the Rangers may not want to give him up as insurance in case Shesterkin asks for an absolutely ridiculous contract.
 
I think Buch should be the main target. Their GM is willing to be creative and would retain salary to reshape his team. I would try to get him if possible, considering he is signed for next season. And if we can get the Blues to retain salary that could make his cap hit somewhere between $2.9M and $4.35M depending on whether the Blues retain 50% or 25%.

I agree on Guentzel, only way we should go for him is if we can sign him beyond this season, it doesn't make sense to me if we have to give the Pens a lot, and then he is gone after this season. Seems unlikely that will happen though, so I'd say I think he's unlikely unless Drury is just all in majorly.

I'd guess the fallback is Vatrano, assuming Verbeek is more reasonable than he was by asking for a 1st and Kakko for Vatrano and Henrique. If he is, I could see Vatrano being the guy if Buch and Guentzel are off the table. But I really make a push for Buch, I think he'd be a great fit for the next year plus at least.

Pagnotta pointed out that a first-round pick and young forward, Kaapo Kakko, could be part of the return.

“I believe there is a possibility that both would be part of the package,” Pagnotta said. The first-round pick and Kakko. Which is why I believe they are right near the top.”

If Drury trades for Guentzel, he better re-sign him. I cannot see giving up Othmann for a rental. Guentzel is essentially a 35 goal, PPG guy for 6 straight seasons, and that is top notch, but you cannot deal Othmann for a rental even if it could take us to another level this season.

Just read maybe Kakko is in the offer/package instead of Othmann. I still feel the same way, but at this point would prefer to include Kakko. That would subtract from the current team, so who knows how that plays out. Maybe it could be a little larger deal. Not sure, guess we'll find out.

Sounds like us and the Canes in the mix, thinking is he would re-sign with the Canes, which makes it even more interesting as the two best teams in the Met, who will most likely play in round 2, battle for Guentzel potentially.

I'd rather get rid of Kakko than Othmann in a hypothetical deal, but then you have another gap at RW going into the playoffs, where KK is a good fit on the 3rd line. I'd go with Vatrano and just give the 1st and keep the high end prospect and Kakko. Then in the summer I'd deal KK and try and recoup the 1st lost for Vatrano. He is still young enough where you could easily get a pick in the 25-35 range back for him. That would also open up $2-3m with the cap not going up yet.
 
Of course the could have gotten Eberle with Wennberg. So I guess they think he sucks.

SEA has been trying to extend Eberle since the summer. One of the beat guys said today they are still talking and it will come down to Friday. Term is the issue.

Drury could not afford to wait on Wennberg for clarity on Eberle. Can always circle back.

I hope they are in on him. Can see Eberle being a good fit on that first line. Looking at the other rentals he is more expensive than Duclair but a more well-rounded player, and much cheaper than Guentzel. Prefer him to Vatrano as well.
 
If the choice is Eberle or Vatrano, I would take whichever one is cheaper. I think they both add the same level, with a small edge to Vatrano since he has had success with K and Z already and he is signed for next season.

I am also in agreement on Guentzel, I would not break the bank for him. I struggle to deal Kakko or Othmann with the 1st to get him as a rental, if just doesn't make sense to me. I would go for Vatrano or Eberle instead and hope the Canes don't get Guentzel.
