To Portland:
Brandon Bass - 4 mil
2011 1st Round Pick

To Orlando:
Luke Babbit (After August 8th) - 1.6 mil
Jeff Pendergraph - 700k
Rudy Fernandez - 1.2 mil

4 mil / 3.5 mil < 125% TRADE WORKS!

We get a great 4 backup, and really unload Babbit cause rudy wants out anyways. Bass doesnt seem to fit in Orlando, and now that we have Matthews, he can play the 12-15 mins a game that Batum wont be playing at SF

I'm not a big fan of Bass. I don't see a point in adding in Babbitt to get him, personally. Not that I think Babbitt will be a stud, but would rather see what he has over throwing him in as filler for a 12 minute a night guy.

To make the numbers work, unless you would want to trade Bayless instead

No. But that's my issue. We're including the 16th pick from this season strictly as contract filler. That's a waste of an asset, IMO. Again, for someone who isn't looking at a whole ton of time, and isn't, statistically, all that much ebtter of a rebounder than Aldridge is, even though everyone says he's a banger.

I like Bass but giving up three pieces to get him... makes little sense to me. Rudy and Babbitt both have value in the NBA and Bass isn't worth giving them both up.

I agree that is too much to give up for Bass.

Rudy has value for what? a second round pick? it will be interesting how the rudy saga will pan out....

I guess people dont view Bass in as high regard as i do. Love what he brings as a PF

Rudy has value as a backup shooting guard in the NBA. He's just entering his prime and has demonstrated some skills that many players in the NBA do not. He was not good last year, but he's still a rotation player and you don't get rotation players on rookie contracts for second round picks unless the team is financially distressed. Which the Blazers are nowhere near being.

He is an average defender, at best, and he's not that strong of a rebounder. He's never played 20 mpg in his five-season career and has only started eight regular season games since entering the league.

He's not worth Babbitt alone, let alone Babbitt and other pieces.

I like Bass, but this doesn't exactly make sense to me. We'd be left with one true small forward, no shooting off the bench to speak of and a player who might be getting 10 minutes a night.

It's a nice effort, but there are better trades to be made.

I'm not a fan of the trade but Babbit > Bass? That seems a bit strong.

My cocern as well. If you could net Miller as well (har har) then it would be great. Throw JPEC in and get Miller maybe we're talking. It's overpaying in both cases however due to salaries.

Is there a Miller on orlando I'm not thinking of?

Bass played 13 minutes a game last year. Babbitt is a mid-first rounder who's four years younger.

I think that Babbitt is a more valuable commodity than Bass, who will make as much in the next two seasons as Babbitt will over the next five.

Yeah, I'm not sure what Miller he's talking about either. Are you talking about Mike Miller -- the guy the Heat just inked to a free agent contract?

Bingo, hence the har har won't/can't happen.

I see what you are saying but if babbit can't massively speed up his release he could easily be a bust as I saw no defense to speak of during SL.
