Who says no?

Cleveland looks to be excited about going young. They have the new "Blazer back court of the East" per ESPN on draft night.
If I am the Cavs I let Sexton and Garland grow together. The only way I add an expensive vet to a young team is if I am ready to compete now.
The Cavs certainly are not anywhere close to that.

What would it take for Memphis to do this:

It would work as separate trades to fulfill CBA rules but I'll just list it as one trade.

Maurice Harkless
Meyers Leonard

for

Jae Crowder
CJ Miles

Portland would save $5.8 million which would be just enough to open up the Full-MLE. If they would rather trade Korver instead of Miles then we would save $7 million.

Dame/CJ/Hood/Collins/Nurk
Simons/Miles/Bazemore/Crowder/Vet Min C
Trent/Little/Skal/Layman?/Vet Min PG/C

OR

Dame/CJ/Bazemore/Crowder/Kanter
Simons/Miles/Layman?/Skal/Collins
Trent/Little/Vet PG/Vet Big/Nurk

POR: Dwight Howard, Troy Brown JR

WAS: Moe Harkless, Gary Trent JR

Sooo, Washington will not re-sign Portis or Parker; all they got was a 2023 2nd round pick and two expiring contracts for Otto Porter. Couldn't we give chicago more now?

Why don't we go all in on Iggy and Love?
Bazemore for Iguodala
Harkless+Leonard for Love

LILLARD
MCCOLLUM
IGUODALA
LOVE
NURKIC

Oh gosh I sure hope we do.

Kevin Love is not the second best player on a title team, he has one of the worst contracts in the league. I want us to compete for titles, with Love and Dame locked in together that would be nearly impossible.

I wouldn't look to trade CJ, but if we do we need a great player coming back. Love with his shitty defense, injuries, and massive contract has less value than nothing.

Portland says no for sure

Harkless/pick for Dwight Howard+non-guaranteed salary fill would make a lot of sense.

While I'm not advocating dealing for Love, he wouldn't be the second best player on the team as McCollum and Nurkic would be ahead of him. As a 4th best on a team, that's not a bad thing. Kind of like when he was with LeBron and Irving.

Would the Clippers consider Bazemore+Skal for Gallo?

Lillard
McCollum
Hood
Gallinari
Whiteside/Nurkic

Could be dealt today, but can't be aggregated with anyone else until 8/24.
@PtldPlatypus Tell your boy Brian Noe that Tom Haberstroh didn't make any sense. Getting Whiteside actually makes it easier to trade for Love or Porter Jr. He was trying to say this eliminates us from those guys if they become available later in the season.

Ahh...I wasn't listening. Thats a silly take by Haberstroh. Whiteside for Love works straight up.

This is brilliant and if everything goes well I could see this being what Olshey is hoping for:

1) Whiteside fills in nicely for Nurk keeping us in the thick of the race for a top seed in the West.

2) After making stupid moves this summer Chicago is still not close to making the playoffs.

3) Nurk is ready to start contributing more around the trade deadline or if he isn't Collins/Skal/Vet Min Big have been playing well enough to where we can afford to trade Whiteside.

4) Whiteside and a 2020 1st are traded for Otto Porter Jr at the deadline.

Blazers turn Harkless, Leonard, and a pick into Otto Porter Jr while also covering 2/3 of the season while Nurk is out. Chicago gets out of having to pay Porter Jr on a crappy team and get a pick for it.

That's what I'm thinking too. That'd be beautiful. Tweet it and I'll retweet it.

And then they could try to do Bazemore, Collins, Layman, Trent, 2022 & 2024 1sts, and future 2nds to trade for Blake Griffin, keeping Simons, Hood, and hopefully Little.

Lillard / McCollum / Porter Jr / Blake / Nurkic - That would be the #1 team in the NBA and the best starting lineup in the league.
Simons / Hood / Little / Skal would be a solid bench, but Portland would also be a big time player in the buyout market for any big man that became available.

I don’t care if the Blazers and Nurk are ready or not. If we can get Otto Porter Jr. at any time we should get him.
It’s very unlikely any of our forwards will ever shoot the ball as efficiently as he does as consistently as he does.

Gary Trent Jr. for Willy Hernangomez makes too much sense at this point.
