Turner, one of Leonard/Harkless, and a pick for Gordon Hayward.
How many picks do you think Olshey would need to include to convince Ainge to take Turner/Harkless for Hayward? 3? 4? 5?!

Maybe 0. Hayward is a bench player for Boston and this trade would save them roughly $35 million and allow them to be players in free agency in 2020 aka Anthony Davis.

Porter, definitely. Solid defender, and doesn't need the ball in his hands to be effective. I really don't like Barnes as a player.
I agree. A trade for Porter is just sitting right there for us. We need to get on that.

Not sure if it is realistically sitting there, but I do agree that he would be a great fit on this team and a trade should certainly be explored.

Otto Porter Jr should be the #1 target. He's a solid defender, has a mid-range game and is paid too highly for a struggling team (we'll see if their recent wins are just a blip on the radar).

Aminu + Turner + 1 2019 pick and a future 2nd rounder

Yeah Porter is a perfect target. I would maybe try to complain about his contract but it’s basically the main reason why he’s available. When in form he’s exactly what we need.

I don’t have that big of a problem paying him $25million a year either because we will not be players in free agency anyway. The issue is luxury tax though - there’s no way to escape it for the next 2 years if we are rolling out a lineup with Dame, CJ, Nurk (all three untradeable) and Porter.

Not sure about sucks. It's early, but Barnes is close to 40% from the three this year.
Does he still play for DAL? (Asking to illustrate how little I follow his sucky career.) ;)
I've never liked his game. Regardless of his stats, he never seems to have an impact on winning.

Yeah it was a hyperbole of course but it's the kind of feeling I get with the construction of this roster. We put half of our players on untradeable list and it prevents us from making any significant moves.

For example I'm not convinced he'd swap Aminu for Covington or Saric, even though it would make sense to.
You say that like Minnesota would do it, why would they?

POR Gets: Trevor Ariza, Troy Daniels (TPE)
PHX Gets: Meyers Leonard, Wade Baldwin IV. Right to Swap 2021 - MIL 1st w/ POR 1st (w/ protection?)

Cut Troy Daniels, Sign Tyler Zeller.

Cleveland said to be willing to take on longer term salary for assets.

Hill and Korver for Leonard, Turner, 1st?

A couple of important dates coming up:

December 7th: Any player traded for after that day is ineligible to be traded again this season when combined with other players.

December 15th: Most (not all) free agents signed over the summer become eligible to be traded.

Is this new? Seems weird.
When you trade for a player his salary can't be combined with other contracts for 60 days. You can trade him by himself again at any time. That's been the rule for awhile.

Huh. Okay. Seems less weird when put this way (60 days), than "for the rest of the season". I guess the TD comes within 60 days of 12/7, making it same same.

Kyle Korver and a protected 1st for Markelle Fultz?

Portland can beat that deal and bring him back to the PNW where maybe being closer to home will help him reset.

How about this:

Blazers get Tristan Thompson and Otto Porter JR while taking on a decent chunk of salary. This move gives us a better lineup and a more stable rotation. The only thing I don't know about is the current situation if Vulcan would be willing to take on the salary.

Cavs save over $15 million the next two years by taking Meyers and getting rid of Thompson.

Wizards get out of Porter's contract with a year shorter and much less expensive Turner and an expiring Aminu plus get Swanigan for needed big man depth. We may need to include a pick and/or get Cleveland to send one their way too.

Dame, CJ, Harkless, Porter, Nurk

Curry, Stauskas, Layman, Collins, Thompson

Baldwin, Simons, Trent, 2 open roster spots (Get Melo and Zeller?)

I'm obviously sick of watching certain players and think we need a shakeup. How about...

Turner, Aminu, and Swanigan for RoLo, Felicio, and Portis?

Harkless, Leonard, and Trent (or a protected 1st) for Porter?

Dame, CJ, Porter, Portis, Nurk

Curry, Stauskas, Layman, Collins, RoLo

Baldwin, Simons, Felicio, 2 open roster spots

Wonder if Phoenix would entertain offers for Josh Jackson. He’s been a disappointment so far so it’s a risk, but he also flashes enough to buy into an untapped ceiling. At his best he’s a two way role player with an unselfish game. An Iguodala lite. It’d pretty much be an Olshey special. Suns have Bridges, while Warren has taken a jump and also has an affordable contract. They may be open to moving on, he has no attachment to the new regime, and it would save the Suns over $25 million.

How about Aminu and a pick?

Dame
CJ
Jackson
Collins
Nurkic

Stauskas
Curry/Trent/Layman
Turner
Harkless
Leonard
