Why... I guess the theory is as long as ET isnt here were better?
I'm not usually a change just for the sake of change type of guy, but ET doesn't fit this team at all (as we all know). Trading him forces someone else into that role. It also opens up a roster spot if we include Swanigan. Mozgov is a little cheaper so we save about $3 million this year and next year.

Only as an idea he would be a good fit, because his contract doesn't fit considering the fact that RJax/Griffin/Drummond combine for 75M. Next to Reggie Jackson his D will be a problem as well.
The Pistons fans I was talking to all want RJax traded to.

Is Tristan Thompson like a really expensive Ed Davis?
Pretty much. The major difference is that Thompson is/was one of the better defenders as a big when getting switched to a guard in pick and roll situations.

That trade idea is mostly a salary based move though.

Not sure why this board is so interested in Oubre...

I'd much rather keep our pick.

Because he's a blazer killer. He has good games against us.

Then, when you dig into his numbers...

Last year Thompson played 30 mpg on a 51 win team while Ed played 17 mpg on a 41 win team.
You mean 2 years ago when Ed was hurt?

Last year Cleveland won 50 games and Tristan played 20 minutes a game and averaged 5.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

Portland won 49 and Ed played 19 minutes a game and averaged 5.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

That looks like a wash to me (for just last season).

My bad - you're right, I was a year off.

THIS year Ed's back to 17 mpg and Thompson's back to 30, but Ed's on the better team.

So on top of adding to the luxury tax, we’re also acquiring a guy that plays just like the guy we got rid of, a guy everyone loved, and another guard that will take playing time away from Simons/Trent.

Awesome.

Turner isn’t the issue. Yes he’s overpaid, but it also feels like hes just become the scapegoat for a much larger problem. Getting rid of him for JR Smith also isn’t going to make Portland better, nor will it open up money or playing time for anybody else. You think you hate Turner? Give the JR Smith experience a week.

When Turners on the court, we get outscored by 10 points per 100 possessions. You di t think hes a problem?

That trade saves us about $10M next year because Smith's final year is mostly non-guaranteed.

No sacred cows and we do have trade assets, so hold on tight, I feel a block buster in the works that will blow our minds!
Rip City.....if the right trade came forth for Dame I'd pull the trigger in a nano second. That could happen?

Yeah. We are just loaded with trade assets. :rotfl:

Anyone interested in checking out Jabari Parker? I think he's contract is rich but he's only 23, and apparently Chicago is taking him out of the rotation. Maybe the Blazers could even get a pick from Chicago in the process.
I know he hasn't been great, and oft injured. Just throwing the name out there.

I just got online to post something similar. He has a team option for next year so no way could get a pick too.

Turner and a 1st for Parker?
