Didn't they pull Parker because of his lack of defense?

That and the fact he is shooting under 30% from beyond the arc. This is a guy who has to be a *major* scorer to compensate for all the things he isn't very good at - and this season he hasn't even been a consistent contributor on offense.

Anyone interested in checking out Jabari Parker? I think he's contract is rich but he's only 23, and apparently Chicago is taking him out of the rotation. Maybe the Blazers could even get a pick from Chicago in the process.
I know he hasn't been great, and oft injured. Just throwing the name out there.

Honest reaction? If Melo gets waived and decides not to retire he would contribute as much on the court at a fraction of the price.

My guess is Jabari will be bought out soon. He’s a younger, better version of Melo. I’d take him.

I just got online to post something similar. He has a team option for next year so no way could get a pick too.

Turner and a 1st for Parker?

Only if the pick was lotto protected. I get twitchy at the idea of giving up picks for what is really just a salary dump.

Parkers got 2 years 40 million contract, thats a LOT to spend to buyout a 23 year old.

Jabari is also repped by Bartlestein. Lock it up.

How about this second unit

Stauskas
Trent/Simons/Curry/Layman
Turner
Parker
Collins

Parker could also play with the closing unit and give them a third option.

Who are you trading for him in that scenario?

Nobody. Waiting until he gets bought out.
I know it's the Bulls but that expiring contract could get them something really nice like an extra 1st round pick. I'd be absolutely dumbfounded if they just bought him out.

Is this too much to give up?

Turner, Aminu, Swanigan, Trent, and a lottery protected 1st for Parker, Portis, and Valentine (Out for the year I think but still has a year left on his rookie deal)

What's the point without a new head coach? That's honestly my feeling towards everything right now.

Who’s going to give up a first round pick to dump a contract? Portland better not. That’s extremely short sighted. Just ride it out another year. Chicago is also set up to be players in free agency. I doubt they want to add money. $40-50m in cap space would interest me a lot more than adding on money for a non lottery pick, especially if I’m a big market team like the Bulls.

I agree that we shouldn't just to dump a contract, only if it possibly gives us a future core piece too. However there are lots of teams that are willing to. ESPN had two trade ideas today that involved the Pelicans and Rockets giving up 1sts for salary dumps.

hell ya id be all over it
I agree. Blazers need firepower ASAP! Other than the top 4 Blazers, not one other player on this team can be counted on for consistant production. Jabari can play.

I would not trade Chief.

No sacred cows and we do have trade assets, so hold on tight, I feel a block buster in the works that will blow our minds!
Rip City.....if the right trade came forth for Dame I'd pull the trigger in a nano second. That could happen?
And THAT! would be a great mistake.

Which players do those two teams need to dump that bad?
