Btw. Bucks are gonna trade Bledsoe and want CP. Thunder would probably want to deal CP, but shouldnt be interested in Bledsoe. Bledsoe could be a good fit for us. Defender with good size and wingspan. Contract isnt too crazy. Could we get 'in' and get Bledsoe?
Not a bad idea....
How about something like this:
Bucks:
Bledsoe + Ilysasova + Hill + Pick #24 => CP3
Bucks trade the least they can to match salaries to get CP3. I'm iffy on whether the #24 pick needs to be included, as they are taking on a lot of salary for the '21-'22 season.
Knicks:
Randle + Knox + Pick #8 => CJ
Knicks get their 'franchise' player in CJ to help accelerate their rebuild.
Thunder:
CP3 => Randle + Hill + Pick #24
Thunder do this for salary purposes. For the '21-'22 season, Randle's contract is guaranteed for $4M while Hill's is only $1.3M. They save almost $13M next season and almost $40M the following to help in their rebuild.
Portland:
CJ => Bledsoe + Ilysasova + Knox + Pick #8
Bledsoe replaces CJ at half of the cost. Offensive production may go down slightly, but defensively significantly improved. Ilvsasova is just a salary filler who can help open up the floor at PF. Portland really does this trade for the #8 and Knox. I still think Knox has a lot of untapped potential as a 3 & D sniper that was hidden in NY due to the mess that organization is. I also really like the idea of getting into that mid-lottery area. I love the idea of Haliburton or Vassell (or maybe Okongwu) on the Blazers.
After the trade and drafting Haliburton (#8) and Jalen Smith/Tyler Bey (#16) - Portland would have 2 roster spots open. After signing Gabriel (minimum) and Cousins (~2yr @ $4M/yr using part of the MLE) to contracts, the roster would look like this:
Dame, (Bledsoe), Haliburton, Simons
Bledsoe, Trent, Hood
Ariza, Knox, Little
Collins, Ilvsasova, Gabriel, Smith
Nurk, Cousins, (Collins)
Still a little weak at the SF and PF positions, but much improved defensively and with a lot of positional, financial, and trade flexibility moving forward. We could also open up a max FA roster spot in '21.
